Might just have to try it out. Seems like ya'll are talking in some other language sometimes. I can see getting heavily involved.

Maybe fun entertainment for a 48 year old?

Fun for all ages Rog. Not a lot of the XBOX live type attitudes in the game.

Although people will rip you off given the chance so watch your back.

Dood .. I know what lo-sec is.
What I said was 'the last 20 jumps are .3 sec or lower' ..which they are.

It was a scary trip down, but I got my jump clone installed in a neighbor system owned by the alliance.. and looks like we will be doin mining ops in our system for awhile. 40 some-odd barges an such, battleship escorts, an all.

A warmup and fun was had by all:
(Image removed from quote.)

All those lasers are mining lasers ..we cleaned out a few asteroid belts.
Char is comin up on 30 days .. on a good day I bring in about 50million just runnin my retriever ..12 runs or so burnin rocks :)

Man I love the toys .. soo many cool toys!

Also Feb 19th for Retribution 1.1. Alot of changes coming including all Tier 1 and Tier 2 Battlecruisers being revamped. Drake and Cane get minor nerfs. cyclone becomes a missile demon. prophecy.... becomes an Amarrian droneboat?

Comin up on 2mil skill points already .. beginnin to be a decent miner type :)

Seems like the Drake actually does more DPS with the rework, with one less launcher even.
.. for ops ... ops-sec is a legitimate concern in EVE.
People will show up just to bust an op if they can.

Rogwar: I'm 62 yrs old.. mixin it up with the young whippersnappers :)
Depth of play is pretty good .. lotta guides out there on you tube on this an that.
Can 'build' a fighter pilot type or miner or bidness-man or <insert what floats yer boat>

Since I am only runnin one character, he is miner first (easy to make a bit of coin) ..
..and buildin his fighting skills at the battlecruiser-missile launcher level way second.
..and I just bought an interceptor to skill up to for running errands in ..it's *fast*
.. but a Drake with a battleship class microwarp drive is nothin to sneeze at either :)

you mean a 10MN correct? yeah the drake is deadly after the rebalance. Less overall HP and slower a tad, but dishes out just as much damage if not more. some of my alliance members are liking it again since the HML nerf in december.

No ..
..I meant the 100m aka 'battleship class' microwarp drive or even the 100m afterburner
(of course the MWD gives the drake a *huge* signature = easy to target .. but ..it'll run at over 2k/m sec, cap stable with the right setup -evil grin-)
(and there are bits you can add to reduce targeting efforts of an enemy = ECM :)
The afterburner will let it run at just over 800m/sec without the signature hit, cap stable ..no more led sled feelin :)
Imagine a drake as fast tackle with 40k+ hit points for defense and a bit over 200dps w/salvo damage at just under 1500 a pop :)
... very do-able in a drake and still has enough slots to make it viable to focus on defense, pvp, or offense.

Played around in EFT
..a nice lil executable that lets you try out different ship fittings
with direct readouts on what the effects will be
..so you can setup a 'best' fit for your skill levels, or a dream ship to work towards
..without spending a fortune to find out 'well, that won't work!' :)

-just sayin

Eve is brilliant i played it for about 4 years got over 40mill sp, riding around in a 1 billon isk marauder (Paladin)  :rock i let my sub run out tho so i could return to my number 1 love aces high 2 :aok

Its nice to hear they are nerfing the Drake it was too good of a ship compaired to all the other factions battlecruisers, could run lvl 4 missions in a drake if tanked properly no other faction battlcruiser seemed to have this capability.

If your a mission runner dont forget to use "Eve survival" its a very important website is that.

If your into trying different setups you can also try out the test server its a bit of a pain to get it up and running but it allows you to waste all your cash and even die/lose your pod without any consequences as it is a seperate server.

Rogwar it is a pretty grown up game its to slow paced for typicle xbox kids and to complex for the other ones try it its great  :aok

While I liked EVE, I un-subscribed for now. The game is a huge time sink and I don't have that much time. In particular, PvP and low/null-sec requires long periods of uninterrupted time.

Yeah the 100MN Tengu but.... 100MN Drake just seems overboard

Please say youre not using officer mods on a Drake.... Please for the love of god no officer or deadspace...

Well . . I built the 100 class microwarp drive Drake
.. then tried out the 100 class Afterburner build .. umm ..yes .. they can be fast ..
..but agility is pretty much not their event, they turn like trucks :)
If you turn you drop speed faster than a D9 in a climbing turn.

So now its a shield regen Drake ..when I feel the need to shoot missiles :)
(shot 9 *thousand* missiles into a player owned station (POS) as part of a fleet op
..we took it down along with a buncha other bits in that system..
..I was the smallest boat there.

We had war declared on us by a buncha greifer types
..checkin 'em out they have declared war on 66 different corporations.
We fleeted up a few drakes and played wack-a-mole with two of 'em in Rens..
..made em dock up and wacked one of 'em that got too far away from safety :)
Fun to listen to the them rant about how 'cowardly' we were while they were docked.
Greifers hate to fight in any game it seems.

Comin up on 4mil skill points ..becomin a decent miner, still a year or so away from havin decent PvP skillset.

If you focus on PVP skills solely (assuming youre caldari) you can be in TII weapon BS and smaller by 10 months including some TII cruisers/frigates. It's the station games that made me leave hisec entirely. Been taking a break from EVE and playing CoH for a while and some Civ IV. but by the time i plan on getting back in ill have a logi lvl 5 scimi and training for the guardian :D got my logisitcs character going JFC 5 now and then JF 5. Gotta love the JFs. Makes lowsec so much more easy
