I'll bet that toyota pickup trucks worldwide have carried more pounds of cargo than any other brand simply because they are all over the world carrying cargo while most pickup trucks in "first world" countrys spend much of thier time empty.

Not bloody likely.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

I would love to be able to get a diesel Toyota HiLux.  Even thought about buying a new one in central America and driving it back to the US.

Diesel engines are not an option in the US?

Diesels do not and really never have sold well in the US. To that end most manufactures will not offer the model with one as the cost of getting it approved/modified to US regs/poor diesel fuel & crash standards cannot be recovered.

The fuel quality has improved alot in the last few years so that may not be such an issue anymore, but every time you change the motor you have to retest it for emissions and crash safety. This is because the US will not except Euro NCAP or the Australian NCAP nor other countries emission regulations.

Ne [sic] of the reason I prefer English version is cause they aren't American and have different perspectives on alot of things than americans do.

this is a key point - its the different perspective which makes it more interesting. eg. I like Man v Food, but theres no way I'd want to watch a Brit version of it.

I must be about the only person who actually likes TGUS, for just this reason. The US team are starting to get a vibe going between them and its already much better than the first 20? seasons of TG. Seriously - check youtube for early TGs and their reviews of brown Morris Marinas and the like. It stinks.

Please allow me to Retort.

Notice Americans do it in a way that's 50 state legal.

Lets also consider the fact that the big 3 have made more pickemuptrucks than any other 3 companies.

The loads posted by Ice are legal in many countries. America is only one country no mater how many states it has.

Also the video you posted shows the Civics safety cell holding up and protecting the passengers. so not sure why you posted it?

The Civic would be covered by insurance. But if the F150 had hit a solid wall, the chassis of the truck might stay solid and be cheaper to repair, but the shock of impact is transmitted to the occupants of the truck. The lighter smaller civic let the truck disserpate some of its energy by riding up on the bonnet.

A solo car crash into a solid object is around 30-40% more likely if the stats have not changed too much sense I last checked them.

who crashes into the side of a cliff at highway speeds?  It's driver error if it happens.

From personal experience, accidents involving pickup trucks and all cars at highway speed the full size pickup occupants suffered no more than a concussion / bloody nose, seatbelts or not.  In both cases the driver of the car did not survive.  In a 3rd incident involving a 1960's International 4x4 pickup with 3 occupants the truck drove off of a 12 meter cliff and landed upside down.  The teenager in the center weaing a lap belt or no seatbelt survived with no serious injuries or medical attention for 2 days.

Crash tests of disparate masses aren't very revealing.  I once touched the fender of a BMW while pulling out of a tight spot with my '01 Tundra.  Result: $1500 of damage to the BMW and, literally, not even a scratch on the Tundra.

On the other hand I did the same to a boulder and the bumper got some nice deep scratches and a dent.

There's no arguing that the 97-03 models failed some particular tests miserably.  Stamped steel pickup bumpers will bend easily when hit.

I've been seeing a lot of pairs of pistons dangling from hitch receivers as of late, is this a national fad?  I remember truck nuts but never see them anymore.

Kinda like this
