Progress shot of current digital painting
« on: May 29, 2013, 01:42:05 PM »
Looking for feedback, constructive criticism, etc.

Keeping in mind that it's only about a bit over halfway finished, I'm interested in anything anybody has to say.

Thanks.

It's kinda like a young George Carlin.

It's the beard and thinning hair, though Neil has a mightier beard than Carlin did.  It's Neil Fallon from the greatest live band in the world, Clutch!

Don't know much about the subject, but the painting is very good. It made me think of some idealistic movement, or anger towards "the man".... It is hard to describe. I like how it is not in focus, but the emotion of the subject is very clear.

I'm no artist sir... And for that reason, I have no additional help.  Well done  :aok

It's only blurry in the parts that I haven't finished yet.  It's an approximation of the shape and positions that I want stuff, after I finish those areas out, they won't be blurry anymore.

Thanks guys, still a lot of work to be done.  Thanks to Ink, I've been using a different layer for each segment of the picture, and that's working out beautifully.  It's coming along, albeit slowly.

He does somewhat.  And you know, I don't like hip hop at all, but somehow, I rather liked that.  Thanks for putting me on to him.

I did this really quickly for a friend last night.  It needs work still, mostly the eyes, which are driving me crazy right now.  But I wanted it to be quick and sketchy looking, so I probably won't put the clothes in at all, or finish the hands.  Just figured I'd toss it in as well.

Thanks Arlo, my main probles is the size of them is a little off.  His right eye is a bit too large and his left is a bit too small.  And I need to work the highlights and pupils a little better.  I still want it to look fast and sketchy though, like a study and not an actual portrait.
