Joystick just died, need opinons on replacement

my ch stick will lose calibration on average about 2 or 3 times every time I play.  it is plugged into a self-powered usb.  and this is not my first ch stick, it's actually my second with 2 different systems.

You seem to have bad luck with CH gear, but if you ask me, it's something most likely with your system causing a conflict somewhere.  Anyway, your bad luck is the exception, not the rule with CH gear.

nope, two different systems 2, actually 3 ch fightersticks and I cant gv at all.  the stick just moves all over the place.  ch gear has just as many problems as any other, reason you dont see it as much as that not as many people have it.  I have had so many "dont turn controls so rapidly" messages that it is ridiculous.

I would say you are the exception. I know of several other players that have been using CH gear for ten years or more. The only reason I'm not still using my CH gear is because I wanted a Warthog. I still have the CH stuff and it still works fine. Really the only complaint I had with the CH stuff was that the rudder pedals are too close together, and the right toe brake quit working, and I could live with both those issues. Other than that I have no complaints.

I agree, your the exception. I have had mine set up for years with out ever recalibrating it.

Oh and AKAK may really know what he's talking about. He use to work for CH Products.

right the older ch gear was reliable as heck.  but mine is only a 3 years old.  well the last stick is only 2.

That's very well possible as it appears that CH is no longer a privately owned company but is now part of a large conglomeration.

Honestly I'd avoid LogicTech like the plague in everything you buy. Their support almost defies logic in any sense. Ive spent a lot of money on their products. Mice, keyboards, game boards, and a new G27 racing set up. Well one of the little plastic feet on my keyboard broke so I E-mailed and called them for a replacement. They said they didnt make that board anymore so they couldnt replace the plastic foot. I found that odd, I mean why wouldnt a company stockpile such a cheap replacement part that is always breaking?

So they sent me a new G510. Now I have rudders that only worked on the USB inputs on my old board and not on any other, or Hubs. So my G510 arrived and guess what? No USB inputs. So the new board went in the drawer and I had to continue to use the one foot old one.

Then I bought a new Hub and my rudders started working on it and I broke out the new G510 they sent me. Guess what happened? One little plastic foot broke off. Once again I tried getting a replacement foot, this time for a board they still made, and they told me the little feet arent available for sale or replacement. All this for a little piece of plastic that must cost them 2 cents.

They must be insane. To lose a loyal customer over a little keyboard plastic foot. Do yourself a favor and dont ever buy anything from this bunch.

I've bought about 10 CH Products flightsticks over the past 20 years, for myself and to give as gifts to friends or family that I set up from time to time to play AH.

I've never had any problem whatsoever with calibration drift, and they have all been very sturdy and lasted a very long time.  My current one is about 10 years old, I think.

I don't use any software (just plug them in to a powered hub), and I don't use Windows calibration at all (just use AH calibration).  I don't know if that is any contributing factor to my lack of any trouble.

Semp, you probably are already careful of this, but you don't use the trim wheels (or brush against them while using the stick) do you?

One way to make sure would be to put a piece of duck tape or electrical tape over each wheel and see if calibration drift disappears.

I actually put tape over them so I wouldn't accidentally bump them.

OK, maybe try crazy gluing them so that they don't move?  I'd probably try it in your situation, as it's really weird if the calibration is drifting around.

Instead of Crazy I'd use Hot glue. It'd fill the gap more effectively and might be scratched off if needed.
