In Finland it's common to get around 5000 euros as damages for killing someone. Broken wrist hardly covers the gas to the courthouse.

If every cop who was ever assaulted by a drug crazed mad man wound up having to pull his gun and use lethal force we would have dead people littering the landscape.
The cops excuse that the perp was going for his gun sounds just like what it is, an excuse. This guy let himself get into a situation where he felt his life was in danger because this guy was beating the hell out of him and now he blames the person who made the 911 call.
Gimme a break.
