Under 6 kg with a 5 rd mag 308, that is light for a system comparable to what the GIs use. Am very pleased with how the scope snugly hugs the barrel, it sits on a 20 MOA Badger Ord rail. The configuration is not cheap, but makes for a great precision rifle for all distances and once you get used to that reddot practical accurate fire is as fast as a semi 308 I'd argue, accuracy is everything imo. When switching to the reddot I tilt the rifle 45 deg and take aim with the left eye, right eye looking straight over the barrel... makes for very intuitive fast and accurate shooting at close range. The rifle is still heavy so it doesn't exactly swing like a carbine, everything is a compromise and so is this rifle. A pure hunting rifle can easily be half the weight, I just wanted something more than that.
How much weight is that K98 of yours?
