I recommend visiting TomsHardware 'best GPU for the money' articles: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

I have a 580GTX laying around if your interested. Runs great without a whole lot of game time on it. I upgraded to a 780. Drop me a PM if you'd like.

GTX 660

Nice and stuff. The only problem is, the 7790 costs only 130$ when the 660ti is 200$. Try comparing the 660ti with a 7870 from ~ the same price range, then post the results. I guess, they will be pretty close.

yes I was in a hurry and forgot to mention the $130 price tag, and since I'm building a new computer, and didn't really need a new card, i wanted to keep it cheap as possible,, my old card is a 7770, but the specs show the 7790 to still be a big step,,  plus the low power consumption rate i liked, since I'm on a 550 power supply
another thing is I only play this game, I don't even make video's any more  so for me,, i thought the 7790   would be more than enough!
 features of this build are

Asus  Radeon HD 7790 Graphic Card 1075 MHz Core 2 GB GDDR5 SDRAM PCI Express 30 x16  (new)

Asus The Ultimate Force Z87 Desktop Motherboard Intel Z87 Express Chipset Socket H3 LGA1150 Retail Pack (new)

corsair vengeance memory (new)

Corsair Hydro Series H80i Dual 120mm Fan CPU Cooler (new)

Intel Core153 i74770K 35GHz Processor (new)

solid state hard drive  128 i think (current hard drive)

1 tb hard drive    (current as well)

550 power supply     (current)
feel free to mention any problems you might see with this setup,, hope to start the build this weekend!

whiskey, you have a really nice cpu based set up.  update the ps and vc (yes the one you just bought :)) and you can get a lot more out of it.  just do it at your own pace when you have the money, specially the power supply.

I saw that too. The thing is wpeters said he has $200 to spend. The 660 was $300 and just got a price cut. Not every site has dropped the price yet, but the 660 is a 7790 killer.  :lol

BTW, for AH you want to look at Texel fill rate.  :aok

we are on the same page!!!
next spring, when i have a little more disposable income,, I'll be doing both of those things,, but for now,, the 7790 fit my PS that i have better,, at only 85 watts, verses 150 for the 660,, maybe by then the 290 will be cheap enough to get!

For 200, that 660ti is allright and is a considerable opinion. Its totally equal which one youre buying for AH as they are way more than enough for this game - for a long time. 70 or 75fps, it doesnt really matter.

Like I said, this game is the only game I play! As a matter of fact, this computer is only for this game!
I'm guessing the 7790 will be plenty for a long time as well
I never played any other games before this on and as of yet, have not found any other worth the time,,, for me anyway!
Now if I'd just learn how to fly!!!!!! :airplane:
