Space Engineers on steam

If anyone has a creative urge and a bit of time to waste I would suggest trying this game on Steam. It's in alpha and the price is very low. Sandbox space construction game at present with more in depth gameplay to be developed. Very simple blocks to work with, cubes, pyramids and slopes, but everything you need to make almost any shape. Impressive physics and damage model, crashing your creations into asteroids has never been so much fun.

Here is my first serious creation, I had nothing to do today  :uhoh

DT42 Heavy Armoured Assault Station

Mass: 28,400,512 kilos
Power usage at max thrust: 47.17%
Reactor Output: 49,952GW
Thrusters: 176
Gryos: 7
Max Speed: 104m/s
0-20m/s: 5 seconds
104-0m/s: 80 seconds
Manoeuvrability: Appalling
Main Hangar Capacity: 17x14x130
Length: 175
Width: 38
Depth: 25
Ave. Armour - Shell: 3
Ave Armour - Critical Hardware: 7
Facilities: Large Med Centre, Main Reactor, Storage Facilities, Multiple Engine Rooms with maintenance access, Control Centre, Bridge and Viewing Platform, Large Capacity Main Hangar, Micro Hangar, Refinery, Assembly Room, Waste Dumps

Build Time: 25 hours
To Do List: Static Defence Armament, Hangar Furnishings, Assault Fleet, Mining Fleet, Maintenance Fleet

I like stats :)

You can build a whole fleet of smaller fighters or whatever and park them on any flat metal surface. That's the next project when I have a day to waste

I had my space licence taken away for spending many kerbal years (and kerbal lives) finally getting to Jool with a nifty close star orbit slingshot only to find out it is a gas giant and the atmosphere crushes you

I choose not to go to bed quite yet and made various smaller craft to crash into the behemoth at high velocity. Some superficial damage to the outer armour skin but the inner shell has remained mostly intact. Those engines and body parts floating around the ship are mostly the remnants of the smaller craft. I don't think anything critical was damaged, maybe lost a few major thrusters on the port side.

Only one attacker out of six breached the inner hull but it stopped there, right above the medic station which remained intact.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Thought i'd give it a go, my first large ship. Made the mistake of simply landing my fighters in the ventral bay and flying off. The big hole I had to fill under the engines afterwards was fun.
