I see nothing wrong with this ad, but it is not a front page add. It's a supporting add. As others have stated, a better "hook" is needed.

I would go as far as to say that this add should come after a harder hitting ad to fill in the gaps, and a third, more detailed ad should follow it.

Based on the selling points made in this ad, I think the most important things that any front page ad about this game must get acrossed  to a viewer, got lost to other points that aren't as important to the masses.

A top notch, fast hitting ad should hit on these points:

1 - bar none, the best virtual combat pilots on the internet are found here!
2 - The most accurate flight model of any air combat game.
3 - hundreds of players in a single game.
4 - the best large scale dogfights of any combat game
5 - great visuals of the planes and combat

Don't pay any attention to special Ned, he's like a nuclear reactor, with self perpetuating ignorance as the fuel, all that will ever come of that interaction is contamination.

Funny though, he once told me that the there is no interest in massive bomber raids in AH, yet the only flight scene in HTCs new ad was a massive bomber raid we almost never see. Which brings me to my next point.

Htc. If you are going to promote things like this, I think it would be wise to make it so that it was reasonable to find it on almost
hourly basis.
Fear? You bet your life...but that all leaves you as you reach combat. Then there's a sense of great excitement, a thrill you can't duplicate anywhere...it's actually fun. Yes, I think it is the most exciting fun in the world. — Lt. Col. Robert B. "Westy" Westbrook, USAAF 6/<--lol@mod

I doubt it, but I would rather be trolled then accept that's what they actually put their stamp of approval on before showing it off.

Muzik, I believe the shot of the super large formation of bombers is to show what can be done in AH.  And while a formation of that size is very rare in the MA's, ET's missions generally has a sizable formation of them.  While I can agree that showing the hourly based thing that happens in the MA, it would be hard pressed against stuff like WT.  AH has diversity, and that for sure is something that should be shown, not just mentioned.

Just hope we didn't smash someone's feeling on this.

Yeah.  I hope our honesty isn't taken badly.  I am being truthful that I got a laugh out of it. :aok

I don't think it is enough as a stand alone ad, but I could see it as a lead in to some other content.

I borrowed concepts from earlier AH ads to make this AvA promo years ago and wonder what pros or someone with Dolby's skill could do along these lines.

this is what I said on my first post generally, explosions, battle scenes, fighter ACM, different planes, and the concept of the game without having to explain it.

too add the suspenseful music...

I think you should ask permission to use player base footage and films. If you are going to promote the game the best way is for people to see what it is like when they play it.

people want to see the game,, not listen to it.

imo what we need to do is have dolby, f77, vudu15, jochum, triton28 and other film makers who have produced quality content, coupled with myself and some other photo-choppers from here and then add in all the sound guys like ranger mitsu etc and make something to be remembered.

We all want the game to succeed and if there is a problem in the advertising department then hell, who better then us.

The great thing is we don't need any permission to go and do this on our own already! We should totally make our own fan-made ad for AH2! Pick a day for a whole bunch of us to get online, grab 40-70 fighters, and meet in 1 sector to duke it out for some awesome mass dogfight scenes. Then we can plan some big bomber and gv runs, and show off just how massive AH2 is both in server numbers and the air/land/sea war.

Things about video marketing is if you dont grab them in the first 10 seconds you have lost them. Actually its that way for most videos but most of all short form.

Thats why dramatic music is often used. Action/suspense scenes. Eye candy ....ect I'd probably start with a bold shot of the Iconic, 51 or 17, real life film you can use commercially. Then I'd fade in AH content with a  aged-filmed filter using slow mo as needed. I'd never even use spoken words until maybe the end. I'd just keep the eye moving, maybe going to period music. Whatever i wanted to say about the game would be in titling, including "wow" statements from members.

Save the BIG scene for last and what could be better then a pile of 17s being escorted by 51s with a pack of murderous Huns descending upon them.

Battleground Europe actually made a decent one a few years ago despite their graphics being worse then AHs current and their game being far, far buggier. Here is one on their greenlight page http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93182567 I was flying myself in some of these scenes.

Notice how they use the very things I talked about in making it. Today everyone can have an NLE we dreamed about in the early days of DV to get thru a short like this with basic skills. Ive been out of it for years but I still have my dedicated machine and a full version of Vegas on this one. Notice how the use of light, slo mo/speed, and other filters can make even an old, old game look much better. And bro's, they have like 3 airplanes for each side. :lol

But the eye of the viewer isnt given time to grow bored by anything dated. Commercial shorts, like any video, tell a story. But they do it dramatically and dont give you a second to be bored. A video maker must ALWAYS be will to accept honest criticism or he will never grow. Good luck.

I dunno on the lack of narration, regarding the game.

I'd also add any relative recorded WWII pilot chatter that might match the action. But a good announcer that can bring home the best points about the game and community is a must, imo.

Can we have an advert with zack1234 naked?  :headscratch: or at least in his tight briefs?
