Squad perk pool? demo image attached.
« on: February 26, 2014, 01:39:16 PM »

What if you could select how your perks were scored? What if they could go to a squad pool of perks, so the guys who don't play as often could still up a perked plane when the entire squad decides to do so?

I made the demo image above to show proof of concept.

Will be interesting to hear peoples thoughts.

Creates an 'economy'.  Could be abused.

'Join my squad!  Use my perks!  Only $5 a month at AHperkfarmers.com!'

Other than that, meh.

You could also give a new player in a squad the chance to test out a 262 in the MA or a -4 hog when you feel they are ready.

I know you normally just spend time spamming your squad thread to keep it relevant, but if your going to post here.. more then a nope would be appreciated as I am curious about peoples reasons behind the yes or no's.

I don't know about this....could be a good deal, but it would be abused as entire squads could be flying 262's endlessly  :noid

could set usage limits. so each squad member is only allowed to spend 200 perks per 24 hour period, from the squad pool.

there would always be that new guy that would join and spend all squad perks and move on to the next squad.  wont be too hard since he could just change his id.

So allow squad leaders  / CO's to set the individual limit of perks per squad member. Or have a limit of 200 per week per person.

The idea is interesting, and I think it could be very beneficial to certain kinds of squads... (I.E. squads that do a lot of mission oriented play, etc.)  It would also be beneficial to new players, as they could actually get training on perked aircraft while getting MA experience.  In my opinion, a lot of players join squads to learn and get better, as the group dynamic can be very helpful with learning to play the game.

My one beef with the idea isn't the abuse per say, but the lengths HTC would have to go to, to prevent such abuse.  That reason alone makes me think this wouldn't really get added to the game.  However, it's a cool idea, and if done correctly, I think it would have more positive impact than negative.

Perks have always been earned individually (other than country map wins).  This idea would take away the need to work your way up to the appropriate perk points required.  If people want to fly/drive perk rides, then folks can work for them.

:aok this.  IMHO anything that increases the incentive to fly uber rides all the time is not a good thing.

If this goes ahead. I'm seeking out the OLDEST FART I can find in this game... That way I don't have to earn perks myself!....

I know there's a few "experienced" players here that could spare the perks.   :salute

CoC.... Player requests perks from squad and squad members may donate upto # perks during any "y" period.

I think the main problem is that the perk system currently has players with multiple thousands of perks and nothing tempting enough to use them on.........

If nearly every late war ac/ vehicle was perked such that the perk system was in constant use then the ability to swap perks between squad members  would encourage squad activity.

This has been discussed at length many times.. in the spirit of not reinventing the wheel, here's a little history.

Lots of good reading in all the threads.

The biggest aversion to transferring perks is that by doing so, you have just introduced commerce into AH.

With commerce comes corruption and abuse.

The headaches associated with players begging for perks from other players, losing perks due to discos, HOs, picking, vulching, ...etc ad nausem..  far outweigh the current discomfort of having to be patient enough to earn them.

Don't forget to figure in Killshooter death whines, disco whines, CV Turning whines, lack of check 6 whines.. and any other way to die that somebody always blames on everybody else..

I find it hard to accept it would be worth the headaches.

I understand the generosity and desire to share the wealth of unneeded perks, but introducing the ability to transfer them to other people introduces an 'economy' to the game.

Here a few links to previous discussions about it.

If you need a firsthand exposure to why an economy can be a bad thing, play any of the MMRPGs that allow purchase and trade of money/points and see how many beggars line the roads looking for handouts.  Then visualize 200/Range/Room chat swamped with the same pleas.

It's a valiant and honorable desire, but the ramifications would be disastrous.
