There really is not a lot more to "Show" at this point,

Art wise we have been doing the creations of the real tiles, along with optimizing the tiles and we have created a good size library of terrain objects along with reworking some details in some plane cockpits.

Code wise I have been doing clean up work so that the new lo level engine is solid for the future, this can include days of doing nothing but cut & replace along with changing a few parameters to a function call along with ripping out un used stuff. Trust me on this, it is not the most exciting work. As example today i'm overhauling the resource system to improve load times of textures and other data.

Ya know, most of us would buy you a bottle of scotch if you had a blog or something where you posted daily or weekly updates on the improvements you do to the new terrain - or even regular stuff.   I mean, we're curious at to what enhancements and bug fixes you're working on - not because we want to have input, but it lets us know the direction of where we are going.

You know, stuff like "Worked on the new main menu interface (screen below) and added some new features to the graphic details section."

But not ... "I went and laid some serious log - ugh. Gut still hurts after Roy's BBQ. We all ate and drank too much last night.  Got to laugh though, Roy's been running to the bathroom all morning... and I've put air freshener on our shopping list for the toilet.. "

I understand how you believe it would be interesting as you have just posted the vision of the blog that you have in the above quote.

What I was just trying to describe is there really is nothing new to show since the last preview, hence why blog really dosn't work. Saying I cut and pasted and cleaned more code 3 weeks straight really is pretty boring.

May I help with the textures? :)  I saw in the video that the textures are kind of....bland.  I'd gladly donate a complete set of HD ones for both ETO & PTO texture sets. :salute

My biggest question regarding the new terrain is will there be more opportunity to have maps that are not so green???

A desert map of sorts would be great.  A winter map of sorts would be great.  The steppes of Ukraine and Russia would be great (rolling hills with fewer trees and more tan/fall foliage).

Well I know this map we just had, if indeed it wasn't won last night, is I think the prettiest and best map in the bunch. I love the look of the water, that south Pacific aqua blue. And its a well thought out map too with action of every type for everybody.

Now if I remember right it was the map that was launched with the last graphics update. The one that also included the Brewster and the i16. Remember the fun we had matching those two planes for the first few days? The lesser pilot in the Brewster made for an interesting match up.

Lotsa memories with this game. :salute

Having at least one winter and one desert map to switch it up a bit would be more than awesome. I bet 99%.of playerswould agree with that.

IIRC one difference with the new graphics setup that has been mentioned by HTC is that a map designer will be able to apply an underlying tint to the textures. So if I understand it right you could in theory lay down a grass textured area with a parched brown tint, but changing to a green tint near water.

Awesomeness!!!   :salute

Just from the little glimpses of your work desk, I am excited about every aspect, anticipating what the end result will offer.

Just like USRanger, I only wish that I had some way to assist with some of the tedious workload.  I am sure it would be WONDERFUL to have a magical batch command to do all the repetitive, time consuming tasks.

All that said, the one thing that I certainly can do is make a donation to the acquisition of a "serious" bottle of Scotch.   Maybe even Japanese Whiskey...   What do you think Fork?

All my "work" is already done and collecting dust.  Here is an example of some alternate farmland:
