A few months ago a new hire was talking to me and asked me what year I hired in. I told him 1989. He said " I wasn't even born yet". Ugh.

The thought of being with a woman in her '20s makes you feel absolutely ridiculous.

you refer to anyone under the age of 40 as a youngster.
When you think anyone under 60 is "just a d**n kid".  :old:

I always wanted an Irvin Sheepskin Pilots jacket. My better half was going to shell out over £600 on one a couple of years ago, except when i put it on I looked ridiculous in it. Maybe it was the lack of a wired silk scarf or perhaps i was not doing the coat justice by being in it :headscratch:

I actually caught myself the other day looking at a couple of kids in a Stanley Steemer van driving down the road blaring ( i mean BLARING) rap music.....the first thing that came to mind was " not a very good advertisement for that company"

That thought was quickly followed by the thought...." Dear god, thats something my dad would have said"  :cry

When a customer rides his motorcycle to my store and introduces himself and then says, "My Grandfather used to race against you.......................... .............."

Age means nothing. I came across a guy on a Kwakker W650, hardly a sports machine, tailed him for a while filtering through some traffic and then went to overtake him on a section of country road. This old boy, with a zztop beard, gave me a lesson in bend appreciation. I was on a T955 Daytona, but the speed this chap carried through corners was incredible. We both ended up at the same bike shop a few miles later. He was in his late 60's. He was a TT Marshal and had come 19th in the TT sometime in the late '70s. Turned out he live not far from me, we spoke regularly until I moved house 40 miles away. No substitute for experience.

On a similar note, my Uncle Keith was a Gloster Regiment soldier, he fought at Imjin after the big U.S withdrawal. He was Imperial Forces Light Middleweight Boxing Champion. About 8 or 9 years prior to his death he was on a bus in our local town and some youths were kicking off, when he asked them nicely to desist on of the guys raised his fists and said 'come on then Grandad'.

Keith knocked him cold in the isle with a single straight left, he was 69 :old:

Or thinking how much work this would take.
