Hmm - you have vsynch on?

I am having terrible frame rate issues with a rig that can *should* run anything.

  • GeForce GTX 980 with 4GB DDR5
  • i7 5820 @ 3.30GHz (12 CPUs)
  • 32GB RAM

only thing I can think of is that the game is on a 6MBs SATA drive rather than on C:/ which is an SSD.

At a loss as to why I cannot get stable frame rates with the graphics at pretty low settings.

OK - interesting.  I disabled vsynch.  When I have done this before (different computer) I was getting frame rates of 300+.  With this rig I got between 56 to 63.  Not good given this power.

I might uninstall and reinstall and see if that makes a difference.

Worth noting my install of Aces High is on a HDD that I imported from the old PC.  I am starting to wonder if the fresh install might be important.  Will let you know.

RESULTS:

Installed AH to my SSD.  Dropped everything to 512 - still will not go above 63 FPS with vsynch off.  Drops low as soon as I go near planes.

LOL  did I build a machine too advanced?  Any help appreciated

IIRC if AH is installed into a different location than the default which is C:\Hitech Cretions\, some unwanted issues may occur.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Did you install all motherboard drivers while building your computer? Generic Windows drivers don't give full performance.

Not at all.  The issues arise if you install the game in any folder that contains the name "Program Files".  Windows does bad things to anything installed in those folders.

Flench, could heat be an issue causing either the CPU or the graphics card to roll back the clock rates?

Understood.  I let a local shop build this one.

Some boot issues which I have identified as BIOS problems and the fix is in Beta with the board manufacturers so I cannot hold that against them.

Performance - hmmm - benchmark comes back good but I have concerns about the load time and performance of AH.

Really feel like ripping this apart and rebuilding from scratch but you know warranty etc - grrr.  2nd machine in a row I have had built that is toejame after 15 years of building my own.  I thought maybe I spend the extra and have it delivered just working - grr - grr -grrr  lol

Oh, sorry for my mistake. I seem to have remembered the "Program Files" thing and mixed it with this. My bad.  :salute

What I was thinking . I well try turning vsync on and if that don't work I well work on another CPU cooler .
