Been flying it for the last few day's and it is really growing on me . I just wish it had more ammo .

+1
Just getting back in the game and trying out different planes.  So far the Yak 3 just feels right.
Except for the ammo.  I wish either it could carry much more, or that I was a better shot.   :frown:

The one I'm thinking about is the Yak 3P, which became the main production variant in mid 1945:
It had 3 × 20 mm Berezin B-20 cannon with about 120 rounds each, still a light load but with a lot more punch. According to Wikipedia: "The three-cannon armament with full ammunition load was actually 11 kg (24 lb) lighter than that of a standard Yak-3, and the one-second burst mass of 3.52 kg (7.74 lb) was greater than that of most contemporary fighters."

I love the small ammo loadout of the yak-3

Yak-3 on my six?

A wiggle to the left
A wiggle to the right
Soon he's out of ammo
And has to end the fight

With that being said it seems the yak3p was operational in Manchuria in August of 1945, if it actually saw combat would be difficult if not impossible to ascertain. I doubt the Japanese would be able to tell the difference, and the Soviet Union at that time was exceptionally secretive.

Oh and by the way I am by no means advocating the introduction of the 3p into AH, I like the Yak3 as it is.

I have flown the Yak-7b a lot recently and like it.

I haven't flown the Yak 3 much, but in fighting against them, they seem like antigravity machines.

Nice, Lusche. :D Not everyone flies the Yak like that. I haven't gotten in one for a while, but back when I flew the Yak9U, or the T, there were actually quite a few fights where I ended up outflying them if/when I just couldn't get a shot. Made some of my opponents pile-it into the ground, never having expended much or any ammo.

Which units?  I found the order of battle for the Soviet forces but it only lists the Yak 3 (no further designation) for a couple of the Soviet fighter groups.

I am surprised no one is asking for the Yak-3T.

I'll see if I can scrounge that up when I get time, it may have been from "Wings of the Red Star".

I guess I'm luck I didn't mention the Yak-3T-57 with a 57 mm OKB-16-57 cannon.   :devil
