This AC is long overdue in AH and would be competitive.

The B29s over Japan FSO that is running right now could certainly use the J2M, and I have +1'd this in the past.
I'd certainly fly it if it were there.

That said, I still think the biggest hole in the Japanese planeset is named Judy.

Id like to see the Gekko (J1N1) also at some point.....I'm a sucker for twin engines  :D

Granted there's more in the Japanese set that deserve to be in front of it.....expecially the J2M and Judy

Add the KI-44 to that and you'll have a damn good jap plane set.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The last FSO was in dire need of the plane designed for the defense of Japan from B-29's.

The B-29s had a cap of 20k and once they've dropped no Ki or N1K is going to see anything but their vapor trails...

The 20k cap was because nothing we have can compete higher or because they don't want FSO to drag on?

Although the J2M may not have been terribly effective at its intended design, with a great deal due to inexperienced pilots and resource shortages from Allied bombing, we aren't rehashing out the War itself, we are replaying scenarios with entirely and potentially different outcomes.

Again please add the J2M and its variants, I believe this would be my favorite ride if it ever makes it into the arena.

Yeah, + 1.

Ive always wondered, were the Japanese EVER able to make high quality fuel during the war for their aircraft or was this something that plagued them later in the war. Like many others the J2M was a different aircraft with American fuel in it for post war testing. 30 to 40 mph is very significant.

Sir, I wouldn't argue with the desire to have more planes to play with.  I found the aircraft available to us Japanese pilots to be much more effective than you might think.  The first one I got 3 passes on the B29's and last week I got 2 passes on them.  Not suicidal tail chases, passes.  Before this series started there was some grumbling about the impossible job the Japanese would have, and I have found that not to be the case.  I think my squadmates would agree with me.  Granted, if the B29's had come in at 30k there would have been a different outcome and only one pass would have been possible.  This has been a great and fun event.   :salute

So, you guys had no problem intercepting the B-29s?  I believe it after reading the logs.  After the interjections from a few of the normal Axis flyers to introduce  restrictions to allow for the insufficient IJN/IJA plane set, it really wasn't needed.

From Wikipedia so I cannot guarantee accuracy, but the J2M would clearly be competitive in the MA and fill a need for scenarios.
