No Radar BS
« on: June 05, 2015, 11:16:20 AM »
I know people have posted this before, and have a million opinions on the matter, but the no HQ radar BS has got to stop!
I'm tired of logging in to play and seeing that the HQ radar is down yet again because some turd wants to grief a side by dropping HQ. And for what? The guys doing it want to sneak some bases without a fight while the other side is trying to run around and defend confused as to where the strike is. I'm not apposed to having an HQ that can be destroyed, HTC needs to set the hardness of HQ higher or have multiple HQ's that would all have to be dropped for radar to go down. Britian had the chain-low-home radars that were a string of radars along the coast, I suggest that we have the same thing. If 1 radar is dropped,it only affects the closest bases to that radar that can be connected to it. As it stands now, me and many of the guys i know and fly with will just log out if HQ is dropped because its a waste of time for us to fly around trying to fight a fight. I don't log into Aces to fly goons to resupply a HQ that will be destroyed again within the hour, I log on to fly a fighter or tank against other guys in a fight. City, Ammo, AAA strats, etc. to me are valid targets because they affect both the furballing and base taking aspect of the game. The HQ just blinds that country to the point where guys are just tired of putting up with it and logging out. how does that help the game play of this game? I'm sure everyone has an excuse or an opinion on the matter and we're all going to hear them. I'm just stating the fact that it seems a lot of players are tired of this and want a new or different set up on the HQ than the current one.

Just because some people don't like a VALID part of gameplay doesn't mean that there is anything wrong or broken. it means that they have a problem accepting life as it is. Nothing needs to be changed. Get your friends/squadmates and resupply the danged HQ. It's kind of like in REAL war, bombing factories hurt the whole war effort, and taking down HQ is a VALID way of doing that.

I never understood the hatred towards dar droppers.   All you have to do is communicate on where the action is and leave it at that.   If you rely on dar 24/7, then you are doing it wrong.

I'd say that applies if the extent of your gameplay is 'Whar furball?', 'Whar undefended basetake?', or 'Whar campfest?'

If you're doing other things, extended lack of dar and in particular bardar can put a serious crimp in your style.

It's a moot point in any case, I think there may have been enough threads on this subject that they are aware of it.  If they were going to change it before AH3, I think they would've by now.

On a huge map like tagma, with much less than 20 active players per side and no real battles to speak of, no DAR has a massive impact on gameplay. Just like yesterday when I hopped between three flashing bases but never could find out what actually made them flash. Later I noticed one of our factories going down, but then there was no way I could have upped and found the bombers before that. I spend a 30 minute sortie looking for enemies that could not be found. And when there are no battles to speak of, just a single con here and there, theres not much knowledge to gain by asking "where's the fight".

And on HQ resupply...  Rook HQ went down earlier today for 105 mins. Each drop takes off 4 minutes of that, flight time to HQ on that map is about 8 minutes. And good luck finding more  HQ resuppers with a player count that low.

HQ once was a valid part of the gameplay.
But with both changed settings and a different combat environment, it indeed is broken.
I expect some changes with the next version, but HT already stated not much can be done at the moment.

The cries about taking down the HQ remind me of the whines from AW when the Spitfire factory would be taken down and players couldn't take off in their beloved Spitfire IX.

And how many players are still playing AW?

I dont mind logging in and not knowing where any ACM is.  I pay $ to look at the pretty maps and play offline anyway.

Plus, in RL one set of Lancs would routinely shutdown an entire countries command and control.

I cant understand why you guys have a problem with all dar for a country being down especially if you have limited to to play?

It would cramp my VALID base taking options.  I'd have to actually take bases and have resistance.

Whiners!

Taking out the Spitfire factory in AW was not the reason why the game was eventually shut down by EA, nor did it cause players to close their accounts.

This is a valid complaint, Hi-Tek has acknowledged the problem and I belive it will be fixed in the new release.

I don't remember his exact words, and I don't feel like going and looking for them right now. But many players were saying what an easy fix it would be, and Dale responed with something like "If it was an easy fix, I would have fixed it already" there was also mention that it was due to a Default setting, and would have to be changed everytime the Map reset.

I forget the entire conversation, but it was enough of an explanation to make me stop squeaking about it and wait for the update.

Problem isnt HQ feature btw, its few retarded players griefing others gameplay : when u got less than 50 ppl ingame(all sides included), most players will refrain from blowing HQ because they respect the players, they want to fight the others to take a field, thus have fun (whats the point capping a field without fighting? If u like that kind of gameplay, then u dont need to pay for a multiplayer game, u idi*ts ! The problem is that 2-3 individuals just want to f*ck others fun, then brag on 200"hey Rook, your HQ is daoooooown"(hey TKO!)...Completely immature and wasting others gameplay...i only had 30 min to play today, it screwed my daily game fun (dont say "just resup it", because i DID!: with 15 players on Rooks side, it took lotta more time than at US primetime ofc...)...

Just add realism in this simulation : If HQ down , then Radar is down for the big picture, but when u fly in a square, u should get access to its local radar infos : thats damn obvious and far more realistic than the stupid "Lights ON, light OFF" switch...
