Audio ID Pop-Up Missing
« on: August 07, 2015, 08:52:27 PM »
Hey all...  I recently got a new rig... still running windows 8.1....... loaded my settings from my previous computer....and all works fine.

except for one thing. I no longer see the highlighted name (of the person who is currently talking in range) pop up...as it always has.  fortunately I have been around long enough to recognize most voices....but I miss that white highlighted pop up when someone talks.

how do I remedy this?  thanks much

Make sure the game resolution is set to the native resolution of the monitor.  If it is not, many monitors will not scale correctly and they lose the information around the edges of the screen.

tried every combination.......this is quite annoying not knowing who's talking....  it always worked in the past.....so this may be an odd question...but might there be some button that is off that should be on?  I'll be happy to check it out

No setting for that.  It means the monitor is clipping the frame.  Post me a DXDIAG output as it might show something.

If you're using a multi-monitor setup you want to make sure that the rightmost monitor is aligned to the same upper limit as the center monitor.

Referring to what Chalenge said, your monitor has a bunch of buttons somewhere on the frame. On some monitors one is titled "auto", on others you'd have to open the settings menu for reaching the "automatic positioning" or something like that. That should set the image within the bezel.

Check to see if you have an "Overscan" on by the video card and or monitor/TV.  Turn it off then set your resolution.  Oddly enough, my TV/monitor default setting has overscan on which clip full screen images like AH.

You should be seeing clipping on other programs like your browser if you have it set to full screen.

Found the issue.  The television is running at 59.80Hz vertical refresh while the video card is running 60Hz.  That will do it.

While this did not turn out to be the problem, this is not what I was talking about. In Surround setups you can move the monitors with respect to each other. If you go through Windows Control Panel to the Display applet and then change Display Settings you can move the monitors and offset them vertically, and even from one side to another. If the top edge of the rightmost monitor does not lineup with the "Focus" monitor, then the screen elements at the top edge will be off screen. Usually, this is not a problem unless the monitors have two different resolutions, but it can also happen with similar screens and resolutions.

so I need to buy a monitor that is exactly 60 Hz....and that will remedy this issue?  I've tired everything else you've suggested.

I find it odd that a current generation television cannot do 60Hz.  Are you sure the computer is connected to the correct port of the television?

indeed.  the other port wont even work.

I'm all ears if you have an ideal monitor you could recommend if that's the issue.  the game was flawless on my old computer...with this monitor.

I think I would try cleaning out the video card driver (get a good driver cleaner) and then reinstall the drivers and see if that will cure it.

It has beena  very long time since I have seen a monitor and a video card not being able to sync up like that.
