I'm no fan of anime, or comics (I've never read a comic book, and have no desire to.
Which means you're a man and probably get laid. And you're not from that part of society that the character Dwight Schrute was created to represent.

FBKampfer "Five Centimeters per Second" isn't really dumb bellybutton escapist tripe about super heroes and weird oriental motorcycle gangs and toejam. I haven't seen it but it doesn't strike me as something a grownup should be ashamed of admitting to having watched.

You think anime is for kids? Allow me to direct you to the following series:

-Akira
-Btoom
-Blood Plus
-Cowboy Bebop
-Darker than Black
-Elfen Lied
-Psycho Pass
-Pasyte
-Tokyo Ghoul

To name a few, none of witch are meant for kids because of their severe violence, dark plots, profane language and overall adult themes.

There is a guy at my job that has the entire rear window of his truck with a decal of Himiko/Emilia (BTOOOM!).  I had to do a double take, and even then get a closer look.  I still doubted it until I spotted the crystal in her hand.  "Well, that's a surprise..."  lol

He used the past tense to indicate he liked it when it was age-appropriate.

I mean one that's not about a fictional super hero or some other bathos escapism and doesn't have illustrations to appease the simple.

Angel Beats
Ao No Exorcist
Btooom (as mentioned before)
Byousoku 5 Centimeter (as mentioned before)
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha
Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo
Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho
Kuroshitsuji
Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi
Seto no Hanayome
Shingeki no Kyojin
Steins;Gate
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
Toradora!
Wolf's Rain

These are just the ones that I've personally watched which fit the criteria, have I adequately addressed your issue good sir?

Pretty sure trolling, but its a good interesting troll with lots of little hook wiggling and bites.

As always, generalities are false.  But get true as you get more specific.  Lots of non-degenerate comic book and cartoon literature out there.  Plenty of degenerate stuff out there too.  Biased samples all showing one way or the other are biased.

I personally was never in to comic books, and the only comic book movie (and TV) franchise I consistently like is Batman.  As a kid I loved Robotech.  Never got into other anime, all the other kid stuff was so bad in comparison.  It just like, my opinion, man.

Here's the best anime I've seen recently:

Boildown

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Then you see anime as a category does not fit the description you gave it. There's wierd people who watch it, and they demand wierd stuff, and there is inevitably someone willing to meet that demand.

But it's not all bad, and I refuse to let horny Japanese teenagers ruin the artform I enjoy!

It's sort of like TV in the US. NatGeo used to be about awesome toejam like Egyptian pyramids, and mummies, and arctic expeditions. Now it's... I don't even know what to call it, but it's definitely not awesome  :old:. Or like how the history channel has turned into Ancient Alien conspiracy nuts, and American pickers.

Watchmen The movie isn't that great, but the graphic novel was listed as one of the Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century.

The Sandman Neil Gaiman wrote a highly literate, complex series that explores history, religion, mythology, fantasy and horror. Won the Nebula Award for Best Short Story.

Batman Year One/The Dark Knight Returns Frank Miller re-defined the character with these two books, which also explore the idea of a dystopian society and revolution.

Going with superhero books, while it may not be a classic on the level of these examples (or even other books in the franchise; eg Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past), if you want a REALLY good cry:

GREAT series, though, and it has a nice twist that the main character of the book is NOT the superhero.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
