A good morning to reflect on college football

Man I dont know about them letting Richt go(at this time), no he never brought a championship, and only 2 SEC championships but he did have constant high win teams and was respected. The llack of championships for all that talent really hurt his case and yes he would need to go at sompoint in the next few years if he didn't deliver but I am not sure now was the time, simply because WHO is out there to replace him? Kirby Smart and Dan Mullen would probably the best options but Mullen really hasn't done much with Mississippi state. yeah they LOOK(Miss.St. better than they have but he still has conference losing record. Tom Herman isnt going to leave Houston after a single year(well  dont think so) VT. just snagged the guy from Memphis. I do think that DJ Durkin is not going to be a DC for much longer before someone give his a shot(even though I hope iot dont happen)

Man I woulda really like to see Iowa and Michigan play in the B1G championship game, not only for the obvious reason but for the Jake Rudock V Iowa aspect of it.

Everyone knows what "the playoffs" mean with respect to college football, given that there is the well-known annual tournament officially named "the College Football Playoff".  It is also national.

So, you said the above, and I said that it was absurd to define football teams as relevant only if they go there.

After that, you added Big 10 championships to the definition, which is still absurdly restrictive.

-- That Rudock is fine for the bowl game, that Michigan wins a great victory (of course), and that Rudock has a fantastic game.
-- That Ohio State has a tremendous victory in its bowl game.
-- That Michigan State beats Iowa and goes on to win the National Championship!  (Sorry, Iowa, you are admirable, but I'm from Michigan.  However, if Iowa does beat MSU, my wish is for Iowa then to go on to win the National Championship.  )
-- That Iowa has a tremendous victory in its bowl game (or games).
-- That all Big 10 teams win their bowls.

I would have liked to see Rudock and Michigan play Iowa. For those who don't follow the Big Ten. Jake Ruddock was Iowa's QB for the last couple of years and while he wasn't bad, he was demoted to number 2 in January of this year and given an open transfer. CJ Beathard has more than exceeded our expectations. It would have been a fun match up. But its going to be 12-0 Iowa vs 11-1 Michigan State. Both teams have had some tough games over the years so it should be a good game.

So the B1G has 5 teams in the top 15 the ESS EEE SEA has 2 ACC has 3 Big 12 with 3. Are the other conferences catching up to the SEC? Is anyone gonna beat Bama the rest of there year? I really dont see Bama losing they are rolling right now havent really got to watch a Clemson game so I dont really know how legit they are.

Bama fan here - I think Oklahoma is playing as well as anyone right now and they do not have to play this weekend - they are a lock.  They are scary good and their offense would give Bama fits.


Of the Big Ten teams looking at the CFP, I think Michigan State poses the biggest challenge to Clemson and Bama.


No one team has better than a 50/50 chance to win in the semi-final.  I think Iowa is a bit suspicious, but admittedly I haven't watched them play

Man if Keenan Reynolds dont win the Heisman it will be an absolute shame. The guy runs a read offense that means he has to make the correct read on every play(no simple hand off to the rbs) he is graduating form a service academy while breaking records and leading Navy to a 9-2 record.  Probably more likely it is cyclical. Neither Ohio State or Michigan State played up to their potential most of the year. Nebraska, Wisconsin are both in the dumps this year. Iowa has played well above where anyone thought they would. Their roster is made up of 4 star recruits and below. Not one 5 star recruit on the roster.  I had expected them to be 7-5 at best this year.

as much as i hate to admit it when you look at msu they are really good. offensive line is senior healthy and good, qb is senior and good, wr are skilled in every slot, and burbridge is nfl caliber, rb all four are good.  on defense this is where they are scary good up front they simply dominate, they must be near the best, lb are skilled and play the game tough, secondary is young and their biggest weakness but if you give them a chance they would be happy to make you pay.  i have not watched the top four play, they will need to be at their best to beat sparty and the iowa game should be a good game.  i would guess the strengths will match well like msu vs osu and msu vs michigan.

 does the other three have a defense that can stop the run and smash cook with a 4 man rush?  can the pass the ball at will with a nasty fast rush in your qbs grill?  that is what it will take to beat sparty at her best.

of course msu has a nak for losing when they are on top, a typical spartan flop!
