I can, and anyone from Alabama for that matter, tell you that Alabama folks live and breath college football.  Not pro football so much.

AMMO...........in recollection which is poor, Don Shula, Lou Holtz, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Urban Meyer, Paul Brown and more.

I can't remember the rest.  I think George Halas was as well but I do know that there are more then I listed.

Ohio was the start of the NFL.  Thus Footballs HOF is there.  High School football in Ohio is one of the best states for college recruiting.

Ohio supplies players to MSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and when OSU played in the Nat. Championship last year two Oregon starters were from Ohio.

Ohio provides many more HS players to college programs around the country that I've mentioned such as Penn State etc.

dantonio is from ohio as well.

I asked a ohio fan why so many from ohio go to michigan? he said "because they cant all go to ohio."  i spent a summer at ceder point and noticed at the local hood store there were a lot of michigan fans, sure felt like home  :aok only i think they liked michigan more than we did.  :uhoh  goes to show football is life in ohio.  but why only one good team?  sure ohio has the MAC covered, but with all that tallent in the state why cant a school like cincinnati  get to the top?

and plasus should you not capitalize "the"  "The birthplace of elite coaches" ?   :rofl  :old:  :bhead

Ammo I can understand why Bama is all College, they have no professional team.

Ohio Is both College and Pro Football oriented.  Even at Cleveland Indians games at the stretch Hang on Sloopy (the states official sport song)

is played and everyone stands up and to that tune O--H--I--O rings out from the fans as they form OHIO above their heads with their arms.

This is exclusive to Ohio.  OSU is the TEAM of our state.  Whether you are a Bengals Fan or Browns fan (yes we have two pro football franchises in this state.)

It is all OSU football even with the MAC being chiefly based in OHIO.  We also are a huge football state as I said providing many college football teams

with players and many many Ohio born and bred players in both the College and Professional Hall of fames. I should also add College and Pro Football Coaches.

Capitalize away and suit yourself. Don't forget that your favorite team's head coach is from Ohio as well. You're welcome.

And after the East West Shrine Bowl is the Senior Bowl.

Both should be a lot of fun since there are players from so many teams, so good odds of some of your favorite schools being represented.

The NFL has become a progressive and vaginalized organization... IMO - for what it is.  The NCAA would like to model itself the same way, but schools have a lot to say on that matter (thank goodness).

Granted, that is a different discussion.  This Bama fan will relish the CFP title for eight and half months with a shat eating grin

Ammo, we have seasonal sports here.  Ohio is about all sports at differing seasons.  We have the Cavaliers in Cleveland, The Columbus Blue Jackets for Hockey, and my favorite Baseball season with the Cleveland Indians and the Cinci Reds.  Plus the Indians minor league squads are based in Ohio!  Rookie League in Youngstown, A Ball Lake Erie captains, AA Ball Club in Akron, and the Indians' triple A club is in Columbus.  We have sports all year to enjoy!  Even Detoits Farm Club is in Toledo!

About the only good reason to go visit the Mitten State is for the craft beer. And since the local Giant Eagle here has a huge beer section (some of which come from the Mitten State), I really don't have any good reason to go. Thanks for the invite though! :aok
