No ammo.Ohio state is one of the 4 best teams in CFB. they have 4 top 10 wins the only loss is to a top 10 team and the loss was in a well played game by both teams it came down to the wire. so we have played 5 top 10 teams thats not looking through roses glasses tell me another team who has that resume this season. washington lost a game in the worst conference in football clemson lost by a field goal weak conference. if anything clemson or washington shoulda been out before ohio state.   say penn state makes it then you put clemson or washington in over the buckeyes then you are saying its ok to take the path of least resistence to get in? and playing a tough schedule means nothing at all?  actually this shows playing a tough schedule out weighs beating cupcakes and will encourage teams to play tougher games down the road thats a win for every football fan

There is no arguing with a devoted Buckeye fan.  Don't bother to try.

It's not that difficult.  If conference champions go to the tournament then the conference championships already is the semis, or qualifier or round of 16

What I mean is that if you want the best teams, you choose based on overall record, not on record only within your conference.  (This, by the way, is mathematically provable.  )

So, I do not like conference championships judged (as it's done today) by in-conference record.  I would prefer a semi-final where you pick the two teams with the highest CFP or AP ranking.

I think 8 game CFP is in the future.  But don't fool yourselves into thinking it's an easy thing.  Money is the big issue with the conference commissioners.  Until it becomes more profitable with a CFP game vs a conference championship, it will not happen.

This concept of best team is false.  The game should be settled on the field.  This problem began with money and bowls and has now been twisted down a slippery slope like our traffic laws.

Weaker?         Alabama played eight ranked teams.  Florida?  Four.   LSU?  Five.   Miss?  Seven.    OSU played four ranked teams.  UM?  Two.   Nebraska?  three.  Wisconsin? Six. 

Just figured I would hand you some rose colored glasses.   At least be a realist in terms of accepting the weak schedules and not shirking your own conferences SEVERELY weak strength of schedule.

Edit:   don't even get me started on Clemson.   Three?    At least the Huskies faced five.

The FCS is doing it now and attendance suffers as well.  Four is plenty in FBS playoffs.  The well being of the players is also a consideration.

Making a 16 field playoff where the first round is conference championships would only add one playoff week for 8 teams, to the season.  The benefits of this model include:
1:) No committee, holy rankings, corruption and bias. 
2:) Teams would be seated by record and head to head.
3:) This model is similar to all other sports.
4:) One playoff champion.
5:) Increased importance to every game
6:) Keep the bowl game TV money
7:) More high quality football!
8:) No more Kirk Herbstreit telling me his opinion is truth.

Pointless bowl games struggle for attendance.  Playoff games are SOLD OUT!

If all of D1 college football could merge to form 4 super conferences, then it would be very easy to implement an 8 team playoff with the Conference Championship game being the first of the playoff games. This would be followed by the semi-finals a few weeks after and the national championship a week later. You wouldn't have to add more games to the season.

PS: I would be in favor of revamping the criteria necessary in selecting the teams to play for the conference championships. We should look at total W/L record and rankings rather than exclusively looking at conference only record. Unless of course, we eliminate OOC games altogether, then by all means use the existing selection method.

I agree on the well being of the players but that's it. Let the boys play. They would be in favor themselves.

And Purdue gets Jeff Brohm from Western Kentucy, not Fleck or Miles.  Fleck is going to go somewhere way bigger, I think.  I know nothing about Brohm but most people think we did well to hire him over Baylor and Cincy.
