Regarding the map download.

I always hold my mission briefs 15 minutes prior to launch.  By making this SOP in my squad, it guarantees they get past the long downloads.

As an operational planner and a lead in my squad, I jump in an hour before launch.  If there was a download I thought may effect my squad, I let them know to come earlier.  It is a check and balance I learned from before.  Nothing anyone can do about the length it may take to download a map.

Take some initiative and check it out so your squad is ready.  Nobody's fault but your own if you can't be in the arena on time.

That is a CO responsibility...

Thanks for the lecture Slip.

Nonetheless, not everything is the same for all players.  For instance, if you don't live in the USA, you might find that it took more than an hour to download the map?  It might be that the connection to the AH server kept dropping out over and over, possibly as many people with shorter hops saturated the links?

I will take on board on what a (can you say crap in here?) CO I am just for future reference though.  (And no I am not mortally offended, but open thoughts and unlimited text will probably start the next Great War.)

Gentleman,
Easy fix for a long map download would be to open up a custom arena and get the map downloaded.
I have my arena set up every Thurseday night and at least 2 hours before every FSO event. My squad know this
and usually most of my squad are ready to go when FSO starts.
As for the beating the axis got, 1st I would like to say that the 162nd got wiped out early but as always we had
a blast getting ready for the event, we worked on a couple of scenerios Thurseday night and thought we were ready.
With no definite orders on our attack we came up with our own and practiced it for a couple of hours. I think that
one issue could of been no communication until the very last minute, I was not able to be there because of work
but got a debrief from my XO. We were told at the last min and had to scramble to get the squad all on the same page, because like I said we had worked on something totally different, we got caught with our pants down. I try to
get some communication together within our group but because of my work schedule this week was unable to get
anything started so all we can do is plan better and hope we can redeem ourselves in the next 2 frames.

I have a 200/200Mbps pipe, and it still took 18 minutes for me. I barely got in on time. I think there were a lot of players squeaking through at the last minute. But as noted it was the same for both sides.

Yeah it's the upload through the game that chokes it.  I checked the front page downloads early on to see if the map was there.  It wasn't.  Back to the choke and broke method after that.

Ok, let's move on to bigger and better things. <<S>> Axis for the valiant effort. You were undermanned and that's tough to overcome. See ya next frame!

If you are getting longer download times then log on Thursday and download the map.  It is loaded every Wednesday evening.  Easy to do if you know you have download issues.

Lesson is over...

Sounds good.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I flew ALLIED -

Now..... Just need the CM team to make some adjustments to the scenario and setup.  My recommendation - Be bold with your adjustments to figure out where the center is.  You can adjust again after Frame 2 one more time to set this to balance.  None of us mind adjustments as long as they are for the good of the game play.

Overall this is a good scenario to fly, late war.  Just needs to be balanced so that next year when we all do this again.

I'm coming for you LCA...

(Image removed from quote.)
I think it prudent that I let you know that I have not flown LCA for 6 years.
