2 Week Trial Survey
« on: December 20, 2016, 11:40:24 AM »
Is there anything when your two week trial is up asking the user reasoning for not "buying" the game?

Just curious if that would be of any benefit to the sheep-herders. ... I mean I know one can always look at the BBS to check the "complaints Dept." but that's from the perspective of some seriously entrenched old guys.  Ya, you're old.

At least some un-biased comments from actual new users could help shed light on potential reasons NEW players don't subscribe.    :headscratch:

Been watching/collecting the grapes on BBS and making WHINE!   :salute

I'm about to activate my two week trial, although I'm not technically a new player. The reason that I may buy a month or two is for the same reason I may pull my N64 out of the closet to play some DonkeyKong, nostalgia. Aces High is an antique game that somehow is still managing to stay alive today. Based off of offline practice mode, the graphics are 10 years out of date, it plays and sounds very clunky, and the color pallet is visually assaulting. The one thing the game still has going for it is it's mmo arena style combat, which gives it good gameplay (permitting there are still people playing the game). It doesn't surprise me that very few new players are staying in the game. If I was a new player, I wouldn't buy the subscription either. There are just too many other better and cheaper options. Tragic really.

At $15 a month? I doubt it.

Not to mention those "better and cheaper" games are played with your credit card. You buy your improvements and better equipment in order to compete with the other players. "Pay to win" is the term they use. You want the premium ride? You pay the piper to dance. Not so here. Here you gain skill with every kill and in no time at all you can get better equipment by spending your perk points. The difference is it doesn't cost you a nickel more here. It just takes a little time and practice.

There is no other game that has the same 'open world' dimension, and graphics. Period. Not P3D, not FSX, certainly not DCS, and Il2:BoS?

You have to understand too, that AH3 is still undergoing improvements. HTC never stops improving things. How many times do people whine on STEAM about the 'updates' that make no difference?

And your comment is obviously in the blind concerning the sounds. This game gives you the tools to make a difference, and I know for a fact that no other game offers what this game can do with audio.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Jeez Fletcher, tells how you really feel. You sound like a competitor trying to kill the game. Go find another target.

There may be, but not anything "we" are likely to see. I think HTC has a survey that can be filled out "if" you want to take the time, and Im sure they go through them.

Posting here, as "Fletcher" did only brings out the people who are looking to argue over what he said. Personally, Id like Fletcher to post pictures of AH3 and any other game he thinks has such better graphics. I don't play any other games, though I've seen many my son plays and with the update, I just dont see how anyone can call the graphics "10 years out of date".

Playing and sounding "clunky" is another one I don't get and would love to see/hear some examples as again I just don't see it. I love the new sounds and as long as Im paying attention my plane flies nice and smooth and only gets jumpy when I have 5 of 6 guys on me  :D

I'd would love the hear what exit comments there are, but I dont want to see people come in and just bad mouth the game for the heck of it. Show me what your talking about. Heck you may have the game setup poorly and THIS is why your having issues and quit.

The more data, the more info people can give the better the all around experience EVERYONE will have.

Jeez guys, settle down. I'm just giving my non biased opinion of the game as asked for by the original poster. Besides, if we are unable or unwilling to acknowledge the game's downfalls, than how can it ever be improved, let alone compete?

As for Blooz, if I'm going to spend money on something, I'm looking to OWN whatever I'm buying, not make payments. With payments, it's easy to lose track of how much I'm spending. For example, Aces High would cost me $180 for just one year.

And for Challenge, most modern PC games encourage mods for everything including audio. However, I'm no professional sound designer or modder, so it would be nice if the default sounds didn't make it sound like I was flying a lawn mower. Also, I'm not the blind one if you think Aces High's graphics top all other games out there.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT advertising or advocating DCS in this post, I am instead using it to provide side by side screenshots with Aces High as per request by Fugitive.

And a player created film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-wMMOtMwsI
those 2 screenshots are from Aces High II the Aces High III looks way better than those ones you picked out
EDIT: DCS is a hardcore flight sim in which you need to study in some cases a Manual is fly an aircraft in the sim. Aces High is a sim that makes it easy enough for an average person to get behind a joystick and fly

OK, and here is an image posted by Greebo of a skin he has just done for a N1K1

How does this look like it is 10 years behind? Nobody said the graphics "are the best out there" but calling them 10 years behind everyone else isn't being truthful is it?

As for the video, it is a cinematic video. Dolby use to do some really good ones but he had a falling out with HTC and so pulled down his videos. I found a few of his older ones on youtube but they dont do what he did later any justice.

Again, those pictures dont hold up against what you said about the game. On top of that there is the game play experience. I have watched a few twitch feeds of other flight games and it has one fight in an hour in most case.

You mentioned the cost. Some of those other games lead you into "buying" planes, or upgrades so that the only way to compete is with continual influx of cash. This game is pretty strait forward. $15 a month for all the time you want to spend in a fully fleshed out world that can be over a quarter of a million square miles, with over 100 realistic WWII pieces equipment on the land, in the air and at sea. Everyone is on equal footing and to become the best all it takes is practice. None of those other games can even come close.

Damn, those il2 screenshots look gorgeous! I've considered buying that game. Is it a good buy?

And I've got to admit, that N1K does look good. The pics of Aces High I pulled were from the screenshot thread of the forum, and were the best I could find in the first couple of pages. I couldn't even find much on google images.  I'll admit, they don't do the game all that much justice so I had picked more average pictures from DCS as well to compare with. I try my best to be fair. As far as the video, I just love that vid, and it shows the cinematic capabilities of the game. You've got to admit it, that video is AWESOME!

For the 10 year old graphics, you've got to remember, FSX looked like this in 2006 http://www.avsim.com/pages/0106/FSX/fsx_thumbs.html . Granted, they haven't done much to improve their game much graphically outside of player mods since then, but that's besides the point. Those graphics rival AH3, and their from 2006.

Not even close to AH3. Seriously, drive through an airfield, town, or factory sometime.

I own all of these games. Aces High is top dog and not because of the singular argument of graphics. Aces High is top dog because it does all these things the best, and more. Tank battles, fleet battles, long-range and short range missions, fighter, bomber, attack, and scenarios, special events, and squad based operations.

Plus we have Santa.
