Couldn't there be an option to join one room with the same planes and another for different planes?
Or put them all in one room, but on an alternating time schedule.

Coogan
Like HTC said the money matches will go through them. So however they work out a same plane issue is probably going to be similar to KOTH.

When dealing with money payouts people will complain one aircraft had an advantage over theirs. Flying the same plane eliminates the factor of “mechanical advantage”.

How do you categorise the advantage more experienced players enjoy? "Computational advantage"?

Seems to be a lot of assumption that the intention is to tailor this towards rewarding those who already regularly take part in KotH / ToC. Why would HTC do that? The already observable evidence suggests otherwise.

I don't see it or notice anything that would suggest that regarding the last part of your post....

I do agree with the last sentence of your post about the already observable evidence suggests otherwise.....

Their are plenty of players that know how to do 1 VS 1's quite well that never attend or have attended KOTH / KOTH TOC events....

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

what would you suggest shida, a golfing handicap?  High ENY planes only for certain individuals?   Random plane selector from a shortlist?

Also what TC said.  There are plenty of regular KOTH players that do it for FUN and not what you are assuming that crowd of players play it for.  If you turned out for one, you would know this (and enjoy the fights).     :aok

This turns me off if there won't be a guns cold until first merge / nose of at least one plane crossing the 3-9 line, ...... I don't have any desire to JOUST!

I definitely do not consider jousting / HO'ing on first pass "Skill Based Gaming"

If HTC could somehow code it so both planes have to fly through a box before guns or killshooter gets turned on/off then it's possible.   I don't see how they can police it otherwise.  If some gunslingers play who have good aim and go for the HO shot first merge, they may be able to knock out the odd "better stick".   I guess it's the difference between lower league football teams hoofing the ball up the pitch and being physical, whereas the barcelona's of this world like to play the beautiful game.

Call me what you will, but I believe that this isn't a good thing, as a principle and for this specific game. Cheating will be attempted, and possibly successful.

New Jersey's regulation on skill based gaming is aimed towards online casinos that offer such skill based games such as poker and blackjack and do not cover or regulate online games such as Aces High or other skill based online games such as multiplayer first person shooters.
Fine no problems from the gaming commission, but how do you get all the different ISP's to provide the exact same level of priority to each player?  You can't say that it will be a level playing field Computer lag, Network Lag, Internet Lag.  Just can't be done.

Call me what you will, but I believe that this isn't a good thing, as a principle and for this specific game. Cheating will be attempted, and possibly successful.

matchplay is empty 99% of the time,  do you not think that this is a little push to get some more guys in there either practising/fighting?

I agree there could potentially be more risk involved with players attempting to cheat however HTC systems have always been top notch at detecting that sort of thing and with the arena being separate from the MA I don't see how it could interfere with normal play.

Anything that gets players more interested in "How did he do that?" rather than "let me extend for 5 minutes and turn back in with friends" has to improve MA game play right?   If A little money has to be the kickstarter then so be it but even free tournys will be cool!

I think this will be my last post on the subject (hey I got excited) don't want this to turn into a flamefest versus any particular players or groups in the hope it is successful in bringing new and old players back and playing.   If HTC need any input on configuration or setups then by all means contact me directly.

what would you suggest shida, a golfing handicap?

The Elo rating system was already introduced shorty before this announcement. So yes.

I'd like to see mixed plane 1-on-1s but I imagine the competitions will be varied and designed to encourage new players to join (as well).

If you turned out for one, you would know this (and enjoy the fights).     :aok

I might if I was able. However in my golden years of restricted AH time I really only want to fly my beloved Ki-84.

Personally,  I think HTC has wasted time and energy on this. Sure, it sounds fun, sounds interesting but how will it help the game? Unless the plan is to turn the game into an online prize game I just don't see it.

For the most part your going to have the same 10-12 players doing ALL the winning. We just had a guy bail on the second round of a KOTH match noting he will never be as good as these others. There will be cries of many ....... if "many" even become interested in it..... to bane or restrict those top 10-12 so other players have a chance. Add in the players who are going to go on and on about favoritism or cheatss it is going to be a job.

Then, how many players are even going to know about it? Promotion of something like this is going to have to be pretty intense to draw decent numbers and "promotion" doesn't seem to be a big thing around here.

Making the game better for 10-12 people isn't the way to spend time and energy.
