I use an HD monitor with  1080 x 1920 resolution and the image quality with VR Just totally sucks....I mean all the eye candy they put in the game looks terrible with a VR Headset. Maybe this works for the guys flying but I can tell you the sight picture in a tank is not good at all.........but then again they don't care about what the GV game is like.

..... awkward interface that for me ruins what could be amazing.......:

curious, how awkward?  I basically just go straight into AH, put on my headset, and play the game (although mostly flying for me).

TrackIR here, you get situation awareness, no motion sickness, and a 2k resolution on a 32" screen.

I will try VR once it works and looks good. No need to downgrade to VR.

This was very similar to my position, until an Oculus Rift showed up at my door, courtesy of one of my sons.  Now there's no going back for me, and notwithstanding certain compromises, overall I consider it an upgrade from TrackIR and my 32" 1440p monitor.

For those concerned about glasses and lens inserts...

I don't know about the Oculus, but the Vive was designed to accommodate glasses.  The side cushions have a slot to allow room for the stems, and the lens system can be adjusted back a tad to allow room for the lenses.  I wear my computer glasses with no real problems.

Also, to the  earlier poster worried about eye strain focusing at something inches from the eye, the lens system alters the perceived focal distance.  For the Vive, the eye sees the screen at 75 cm away.  That's why I use the glasses I use when regularly sitting at the computer.  Although I love the VR so much, I'm thinking about getting some gaming contacts.  :rofl

For those concerned about glasses and lens inserts........

I was concerned about this since I regularly use reading glasses when using a monitor.  But as Ciaphas and others have pointed out, something about how at least the Rift works I find I don't need glasses at all when I'm using the Rift.

@MAX - it's up to you to decide on whether or not you think VR is worth the investment.  For Windows Mixed Reality headsets, they're a couple hundred dollars, and run on nVidia 1050's and up (or a 970) and 470/570 radeon.  Vive and Rift's are waaay more expensive.

Personally, went from the Rift to WMR (Acer).  It's not perfect as the main dev tech platform is just two years old.

Oculus Rift here - absolutely love it and enjoy just flying around even without anyone to fight - just because it looks so real and cool.

Yes, resolution could be better - and it´s hard to see which way the tank gun is facing when attacking for a strafing run - but that will only get better in future iterations. The increased SA, immersion, and 3D spatial awareness (especially for high-deflection shooting) more than makes up for that.

If you are a naysayer - you are probably too old to appreciate/adopt to something new or too poor to buy one or just generally weird. :devil

Cheers, Litjan
