sources will find he scratched his butt on the on the left cheek at 2:15pm on a thursday in march last year...and this was a clear sign and should have been on a watch list....last night they crossed live to Aussie to be outside the house he lived in 10 years ago....I mean...WTF seriously... his dad died at an early age of 50 and this caused blah blah blah......

Sensationalizing is the problem here.... the guy had a screw loose...and so did the people who helped....
His manifesto from all reports is full of name dropping only..... and the people named are as confused and outraged as others....
The fact he was getting egged on during the live stream is a problem also.... the disassociation we have due to social media is quite frankly scary.... it is how this type of thing lives....
yes there are messed up people in the world for sure...but I say that if most of those egging on  were there in person...they would be way different...

They'd be different only because they'd be visible.  Something like this was inevitable.  The interesting thing will be the reactions of the lawmakers.

Horrible thing to happen.  A shack in the mountains looks more and more inviting every day.

There's going to be a lot of noise about they need to do something about the social media that allowed him to broadcast what he was doing, because that's easier to make rules about than it is to stop crimes or fix mental illness.

I am a prepper. When you don't understand something it can look crazy. Prepping is nothing more than insurance. I bet you have some type of insurance. Any insurance is just betting something may happen and hoping it doesn't. My current home I have has had flood insurance on it since I bought it 30 years a go. Never flooded till hurricane Harvey. Glad I had the insurance.

I hope to never need my insurance that is my ability to continue to survive if things go bad in this world. It makes me comfortable to know I can still provide for my family when stores and stations are all closed.

As someone who went through something similar to you (house fire) did you have problems with your insurance company dropping you afterwards?  We had a full investigation as usual in our state to make sure it wasn’t Arson. Proved it was the HVAC unit in the attic and they still dropped us after they shorted us on what everything was worth.

No problems at all with insurance. In fact they came through in spades. They had their guy here in just a few days. They sent me a 13k check 2 days later just so I could get some stuff rolling.

After I sent my list of contents in it took about a week and they were sending my main check.

I already had my insurance guy shopping flood insurance with the thought of possibly saving a few bucks. Even though the insurance did very well, I actually changed insurance companies afterward. So I guess I dropped them.

It always saddens me that people identify with "tribes".
Far more pleasant to accept or reject each individual you meet in this life based on the experience at the time of meeting. We'd all likely have more friends and definitely fewer perceived enemies.

You need to understand that being a small country we are ALL Kiwis, there is no them and us. The people that died are Kiwis. All religious faiths (and non-religious) here live and work shoulder to shoulder without hatred and as mates. This act is pure evil, pure hatred.

This has wounded us deeply. We are a pretty peaceful people. This piece of scum is not even of our nation. This is not something we wanted. This is a scar on our nation that will never heal.

The Deans Ave Mosque is just around the corner from where I went to school (Christchurch Boys High School). I grew up in Christchurch (don't live there now) so this is pretty emotional for me too.

Very sorry for you and yours, Vulcan.  The whole world is pulling for you.  Don't let the inevitable degeneration of this thread make things even sadder.

Good to hear they took care of you. We never missed a payment and never had a claim. Stalled us for months on a check then dropped us. (Farm bureau). Tornado just destroyed half our community. Most had the same company insurance. They ALL got dropped. Shame really

Why is it if some Muslims get massacred by a 'whitey' there is 24/7 news coverage for days on end but when some Christians get massacred by Moslems it is only a blip in the news coverage.

Human nature.  For there to be an "us," there also has to be a "them," otherwise the "us" becomes meaningless.
