Yeah Saam! Go get you a squad to fly with! The AKs or pigs on the wings would be great ones. You will learn a tremendous amount. Joining a squad in the MA helped me learn so much I did not know about ACM, Jaboing, winging, and bombing. You will be surprised. I'd also recommend just getting a Joystick. Would probably help you a lot. Then once youve gotten the hang of it,go back to the sticks.

Of course this game is too hard! Thats the fun of it! Even I rage quit and talk trash and curse Hitech  :D but it's the thrill of it that keeps me here.

Keep working at it! Pretty soon you will laugh at this thread.

Honestly, the fixation on winning every fight is unhealthy. The frustration of losing every fight is manageable. Winning and losing fights is normal. And, there's always bombing (just don't make a habit of bailing rather than gunning). :D
).

I like to win and enter every fight to win but im also understanding of situational awareness, pilot ability ect.. ect.. ect..
I am also very much a sponge to my environment and take every opportunity to learn that I can.. I do pay attention to every bit of advice and do my best to implement in the field...
I know you all understand my frustrations to some extent. But can't fully appreciate what im ezperiencing.. i know this now. You see, I can remember when Ace Combat 6 had turned 5 years old. The community had shrunk to about 300 die hard players. We were all professional elite level players by then, every plane, every weapon system, every map, every square cm committed to memory and every person in the community had played since day one and everyplayer was elite level. I remember noobs coming in and getting thrashed.. I too would offer training, hints, tricks ect.. ect.. but nothing replaces years of playing at the highest levels. I also remember trying to encourage the new players to stick it out, I understood them.. but not fully. Not until I experienced the side of being the noob fully..

You are all the best in the game.. every one of you and better still, you are all excellent human beings, genuinely good people.. I am a hard charger, but also very calculating and I love this game already... but... getting pummeled by every player in every plane, vehicle, field gun, ect.. ect.. in every sortie would demoralize Patton himself!!
I will still jump in AH and try my skills, join the graveyard guns for some rapid base acquisition at 3am but I am going to take the opportunity to help Mr. Hitech take WOP to the next level, help it grow and develop into the sickest Shark Tank in VR.. Hell, maybe Ill even organize the AcesLeagues World Cup Dogfighting Championship 2020, Partner with the US Air Force, Nvidia and kickstart a $100,000 prize pool or something..
at worst, I will begin immediately  building my Legacy and Raise the BlackSheepAries flag atop Mt Emilimen and create my Legend!!

Come shoot me down.... if ya can when the field is equalized and pure pilot skill is the only advantage...
you guys all kick ass... and thank you from the heart for all the encouraging words!!

God Bless,
 SAAM

I never could really understand players that let being shot down in this game get to them or players that could only interact via their egos (it really is just a game, man - a really challenging/pretending to be a WWII combat pilot game). As stated by many, AH is full of good sticks.

What it needs are more good players (yes, there's a difference).

Its not the getting shot down part that sent me into raging angry depression.. I can deal with getting shot down.. It is the absolute and instant failure every single time i get to the fight and engage.. every tactic, defensive or offensive, everything i try.. instant failure with the result of having to take off again, climb out again, fly across a couple grids, consider who I will engage.. All that takes time, 10 to 15 minutes just to get shot down by some miraculas bullet to the chest and boom n zoom.. I cant last more than 1 to 3 minutes once on station..

WOP is a VR only game and im sure Ill be alone for now but it wont be long before the tank starts filling up.. also.. I really really really like flying a P40 that flys like a Spit16..

Final Note.. I have the Warthog HOTAS. I use it for AC7, IL2, And Hawx(back in the day).
Im going to stick with using the Touch Controllers.. The range of motion needed in a real plane is far greater than the HOTAS can provide when flying a spit of pony or like.. those sticks are better suited for modern aircraft type sims... the touch makes me feel i am holding the actual flight stick..

See ya in the skies..

SAAMIAM, if you are still reading this topic, I extend you this offer.

Come fly with us in the October scenario Anzio.

I will personally get you up to speed in it.

Scenarios are a different format from melee.  Scenarios are special events themed on actual battles, in this case Anzio (and more specifically Operations Shingle and Strangle).  It is Spitfires, P-47's, P-40's, and B-26's vs. 109's and 190's fighting over Italy in early 1944.  We have battles that run each Saturday in October, from about 3 pm to 6:45 pm Eastern or so.

I help produce scenarios, and I'm the CO of the allied side in this event.  Scenarios are marvelous fun.

If you are interested, reply here or send me a message, and I will give you my cell phone number.  We will talk, and I will get you all integrated into this glorious scenario!  :aok

Whaddya say?  Let's go for it!  :aok

PS:  This offer is good for all Aces High players, new and old alike.  Message me, and I will personally get you going in the next Scenario.

As others have posted, every single one the AH players have gone through what you are experiencing....

"Fight like you Train, Train like you Fight"

I recommend you getting with a Trainer (note: read my signature), and fly 2 or 3 flights against them, so they can evaluate where you are at as well as what you might be doing right or wrong...

Then from there, stick with the Trainer(s) for a good 6 to 8 2 hour training sessions, minimum!

If you can't find  a trainer that can commit to this schedule, then PM me and I will make time and take you under my study.... That would be 6 to 8 weeks with 1 2 hour training session per week...

To erased/removed any bad habits, I will take you back to basic BFM

Hope you decide to stick AH out

WO:P is not VR only.  It's adjusted to be more VR friendly than AHIII but you can still use a monitor.

The P-40 flies the same in both games, it won't let you stall in WO:P so you slow down less. You can do the same thing in AH with the stall limiter but then you limit your max turn.

Every calibrated stick has full travel. The physical range of motion is proportional to the length of the stick. A short stick is like grabbing a real stick closer to the base. Since short sticks affect sensitivity, you can scale the stick in AH to get more sensitivity where it's useful.  The slight disadvantage of a short stick is less than the disadvantage of not knowing the stick and rudder position by feel. Flying with Touch controllers increases the workload, I think it increases too much even when ACM is second nature. Generally speaking, a player with a joystick will beat an equal player with Touch controllers. I'm not saying don't use them, just don't expect to be your best.

If you prefer WO:P to AHIII that's not a problem.  :D

monday night madness is a good place to hone your 1V1 skills, as we keep ho-ing to a minimum.

Even if you decide to concentrate on WOP, stop in for Monday Night Madness.  It's very fast action in mid-war planes, up close and personal.  And, it's all about fun.  People change sides to even up the numbers and everyone is on a common vox, so you can easily "congratulate" your opponent.  Give it a try -- you'll die laughing.    :D

The OP does have a valid argument.

When I started this game way WAY back, I sucked of course. BUT! there were plenty of other new players around that sucked just as bad. So, sometimes I’d run into a veteran that would hand me my donut no matter what plane I was in or the advantage I had, but often I would run into players at my level and we had a really stupid low skill dogfight - but I had a chance!

These days a new player will run into extremely experienced players almost exclusively. The steep learning curve got a hell of a lot steeper when the noob population dwindled down.

The other thing that was good for noobs were posted (pickup) missions. They could join a mission, be part of a group and enjoy the guidance and protection of veterans. Just dropping bombs in the general area of the target, giving 6 calls, and feeling like they are part of the veterans gave them a sense of accomplishment - even if they missed all the bombs and didn’t even damage an enemy plane.
Pickup missions have gone extinct. I don’t recall seeing one posted in years.

What they said.  You’re missing out on some great opportunity for pure fun if you don’t.

I can second what Brooke said about scenarios. I did my first one last month, Battle of Britain, hands down much better than melee. Organized missions in squads covering each others 6 and when the fight is on it is in your face on, 10 or more on each side in a furball. The best time I've had so far in AH. Almost seemed like we were all transported back in time on that one. I even said this might have been what it was really like back then, that's how well put together that was.

Friday FSO's are a slimmed down version of a scenario kind of, maybe check those out too. A lot faster paced and surviving is difficult right now for me but I am sure that will change over time. Just have to invest the time in flying different plans but this is the best game I've ever flown in. Right now I use melee to refine convergence and test jabo attacks, bmr runs or help capture a field. More of a proving grounds for me than an organized battle. My whole goal there is to survive, launch find a fight, get some hits or a kill and rtb to land. That is a successful mission to me there.

Guess I might have to stop in this coming Monday and check that out. Seems like a good time.

Hope to see ya in the scenarios saam.

OK everyone laughs when I hit a tree or one of those tall buildings..... we know who you are talking about. The 38J auger king.

I am a little different. I started out good, got worse, then was off a year when my home flooded. I came back and now I fly so bad that some folks think my call sign has been hijacked.

Bottom line have fun, stick with it..... and know you keep living and getting new planes with all their parts.

Find a some friends to fly with, it will help you tons.  I still remember the guys i got in with about 20 years back.  Once you are taught a few things, you can fine tune them, and watching yourself progress is half the fun.

I saw you were on Knights side last night, SAAIAM.   I'm a noob also but I keep trying to learn.   It was good to see that you were on.  Keep at it and don't be discouraged.  Many times dying just keeps me motivated to analyze what I need to do, and learn the reasons of why and what happened.  You have stated in previous posts about being STA Marine, so I truly believe you know that patience, observation, and tenacity, in the face of overwhelming force is key.   Also, as many have said in their posts,  training and squad mates are a big plus in getting further along.  When it comes to this game, as in Real Life,  I go by the saying "you don't know what you don't know".  So take heed of the knowledge and generous time of those that have come before you.     Always Faithful, Always Forward   :salute
