Help me understand something please

In addition to Vinkman's good points, my general rule of thumb with 30mm is to get in C L O S E, and give it a lot of lead until you get used to it.  I still shoot behind people all the time particularly with 30mm.  I don't like to fire outside icon 200 and I prefer to be right on top of them.  The dispersion on the 30mm is extreme.  You can be dead on a fighter at icon 400 and shoot all around his plane without touching it, particularly in a tail chase.  Bombers slightly less so.

Yes I second Wiley's point. If you can get a 30mm to pass in-front of target you're on the road to big things.

damage drop offs for bullets is useful to know as well.

.30 cal 250 yrds (could be +-50yrds I'm not 100% on 7.7 and 30 cal)

.50 cal 400 yrds (.50cal does 1 point of damage and drops below that past 400 yrds)

When I flew with my squad in training arena most had way too agressive elevator and rudder settings.

After seeing his post I bumped my damping up on elevator and rudder the other day.  Night and day difference.  It's not muscle memory yet but it was instant loss of nose bounce.  I'm very happy with the change.

I personally prefer minimal damping or deadband. But if your joystick starts to lose.calibration it will.definitely be necessary

I believe you also have to be flying north

North is default but you can place the target at any heading. Just put the heading after the distance.

You can also have it on an upward or downward angle if desired. If memory serves its something like .target 300 180 45 would put it at 300 yards south of you at a 45 degree angle up. - 45 would put it at 45 degrees down.

Yeah I didn't know you could change the orientation of the target either. Dunno why ya would but it's cool ya can.
