I've heard there are disgruntled buyers that formed burner eBay accounts specifically to troll the scalpers and put these crazy bids in. Can't imagine anyone sane paying that amount of money for a video card. Imagine what they'll pay for a 3090 next week! Get the popcorn ready!

At double the price of the 3080 the 3090 doesn't appear to to offer more than about 10% the performance of the 3080. I did actually take a shot at one this morning, I'm kinda glad best buy's website sucks so bad and I couldn't get my cart into check out 3 times in a row ... the performance gain makes the diminishing performance per dollar return on investment just isn't there to justify the purchase.

Tom's Hardware didn't release a review with benchmarks until a good 10 minutes after they sold out.

While I think Tom's takes kickbacks the did call the performance gains in an earlier article.

It's not like EVERY tech media outlet has been saying this was gonna happen exactly this way for weeks or anything. It blew up the same way with the 2000 series too. There will be some stock by Christmas maybe.

I'm kinda hoping AMDs Big Navi can at least get between the 3070 and 3080 if not really close to the 3080. Depending on the price I may go for an all AMD system. Since I run Triple monitors I tend to like the way AMD does multi-monitor over Nvidia.

Even so, when they get released this same thing is gonna happen with them. You know that, right? I'm just gonna wait for black Friday and see if I can get a better deal, such as that is. They'll surely  have some cards to buy by then in multiple flavors. And even better, some that have made it into the wild will be tested and reviewed out the yingyang by then. More info to make an informed purchase.
