scenario playing out today. 26 bish,  24 knits,  8 Rooks.

ENY keeps fluctuating (20-30) every time a someone logs on or off. So I'm waiting for the VH to pop to save the base from incoming M3s. It pops I launch. OOPPS!  ENY has dropped again so I have to go back the clip board and select a different vehicle. In the time lost to look for, select, grab ammo, and launch the M3 takes the base.

ENY only affect is to frustrate everyone playing.  :salute

if you fly non ENY affected aircraft and vehicles from the start.....there is no problem

As soon as DCS releases the Corsair module with the Essex class carrier and map, I'm probably going to bail on AH the first time I get screwed by NMY and can't even fly an early F4u1 at 1am PT.

Magnitude has promised a development update in a few weeks, but I happen to know their sound guy is out of commission at the moment. Might not expect things too quick. These things take time, as Hitech can attest.

And it's not a good idea to insult the system in use if you really want to change it.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

This is what ENY is for, to slow the team with the larger numbers down so fewer players can have a chance to defend.....if they want.

ENY is NOT to force players to switch sides. It IS a benefit should it happen, and it IS an option for those players that just HAVE TO fly their favorite bird.

ENY does work, but I think with the lower numbers the imbalance is more pronounced. Also with some of the planes/vehicles that were added back in the day and their ENY was set the arenas had much bigger numbers and the game was played differently. Thats why planes like the YAK3 are so out of whack ENY wise. I think if HTC watched game play for a month and then reevaluated the ENY on these planes/vehicles you'd see some changes.

On the other hand, Im think HTC is all done with any more changes in the game.  :(

Generally with a large embalance its 2 teams with even #s and one team with very low #s. To me this is natural as the teams with higher #s are fighting each other and show action on the map. People want fights, so they go where the fight is.

Both teams could gang the other team and reduce their side to 5 bases. Ive been seeing this happen. BUT, those teams still have to fight each other because one side has to take their bases to win. If both teams are ENY crippled, while fighting each other, it makes it very challenging for a team to win the map. So in essence, the two teams fighting each other are both crippled by ENY not fighting the low #s side. This defeats the purpose IMO.

knights win maps with eny anywhere from 15 to 29. we don't complain we just have fun with whatever is available.

eny is not a problem, eny is what we know happens when we have more players.

Yeah but Semp... that's because you out number both sides at the time...
sure there is only 14 on flying F4F's and 38's, 190a8's and jugs.... not much of problem really with numbers.......but the others have 4 and of those four there is usually 2 sitting out in a field somewhere...and the other side has 1 or none hahahaha...

of late though i have noticed an increase of bish numbers which is evening it out a little ...but poor old rook....it is getting a musty smell during the early American morning time

I'm just going to come out and say it .... the game has fallen behind and the community is going to crap, has been for a long time, it's dying and nothing is going to save it, not even VR, I give it less than 2 years before HT pulls the plug on it just to remove the expensive space heater we call a server from his house.

I can't really let my youngest fly due to player base being so toxic and the lack of perma-squalch. None of my older kids want to play because honestly I never let them play online as kids, I couldn't we don't have a perma-squalch and this community is way to toxic. Instead they play SWTOR ... That's 4 potential customers lost due to community toxicity and HTC's failure to address it.

Me I have bigger and better things to do even in gaming.

If I can't fly what I want when I want than there is no point in paying my 15 bucks a month. I'm willing to switch sides as long as I can switch back when I want to but that's to much to ask than I'll go elsewhere I obviously didn't miss much the last time I left the game (8 years) and HTC obviously doesn't need or want my money.

I came back to keep my squad from dying with this game .... not sure I can do that, but I'm kinda hoping since we only have like 6 active members in the squad (and we have never had more than 3 on at any given time) since I have been back, that maybe we can loose our dependency on Aces High being our focus game and we can move on to something else that's going to be around for while and allows us to fly what we want even if I have to run a perpetual il2:1946 server in my Den.

We all know that you are not the first to say this.  I think it is a short-sighted point of view.  The game has so much breadth, yet so few people take advantage of that.  We already have a zillion different airplanes, all of them as true-to-life as any computer game has achieved (with the possible exception of DCS, and I haven't flown that to compare).  The sandbox permits all manner of play styles, customizable at your wish.  Tying yourself to one plane, on one side, to do one thing, means you miss out on all the rest.  I've been flying here for two decades, and I'm still learning new things (such as, possibly, that the 205 is not a complete pig).

Beyond that, comparing the toxicity of the present community to that of what we had when HTC split the arenas is comparing Donny Osmond to Sid Vicious.  We now are nowhere near as horrible as the community was back in what some now consider the Golden Age.  Paraphrasing Muhammad Ali, if you dream that thought, you should wake up and apologize.

You should let them get use to it for the teenagers. Will teach them to get tough in life with people online who are talking crap. Thats the real gamer world for u.

Hitech did address it by banning direct messages to people on the other team. There ain't much more you can do besides having 15 mods. A perma squelch may be tough to do, but at the same time, this isn't a "kids" game, and if they play, they should be aware of that. Also, it might help them to learn how to deal with the online world and deal with meatheads who talk trash.

I agree with you about being able to fly "your" plane. Thats why a perking system would work better. It really wouldn't throw the game off that much.

That reminds me of Kevin Beacon's Character "Nokes" response in the 1996 Movie Sleepers, "I tried to make you tough" and for that we have Dark Souls the game that screws you till you like it!

Most of us stick around when ENY is high.  Some aircraft such as the D11 is equal to a D Pony or B Pony unless you're inclined to turn tail and run. The D25 and the D40 are great also. For that matter they will fight nicely against all aircraft in game. You've got to use what they give you not ask them to do something they can't do well  Try a different aircraft.  You just may enjoy fighting up hill for awhile.  :rock

We all know that you are not the first to say this.  I think it is a short-sighted point of view.

So what the was purpose of NMY in the first place? Because it doesn't balance the arena .... at most it makes a few people like me rage quit after FSO or When I log in at 10pm PT and I can't even Fly a Corsair. Making me quit the game for balance just makes me want to quit the game ... as in stop paying for it .... permanently. I hope you like the low numbers because the game is getting worse we don't even have the RONA refugees any more!

The game has so much breadth, yet so few people take advantage of that.  We already have a zillion different airplanes, all of them as true-to-life as any computer game has achieved (with the possible exception of DCS, and I haven't flown that to compare).

You have 3 IL2 games Il2:1946, Il2:COD, IL2:GB. Micropose is back and is working on updating warbirds. If realism is an issue you have World of Warplanes and War Thunder.

I like to play the way I like to play. I don't do GV's I don't fly 4 engine buffs, I like a handful of planes and if I can't play the way I want, fly what I want,  I will take my money to someplace that does ..... and the number of subscribed AH players drops off that much more.

In short I'm going to disagree with you on this.  I've been around this game since Beta and I was in Air Warrior before that I even worked for Gamestorm/Kesmai, before that it was playing Air Warrior for Windows on AOL and AWDos on Genie before that .....  This community goes back far longer than AH.

I missed about 8 years of AH community toxicity specifically the Skyyr years You know where Skyyr and Kruel urinated in everyone's favorite breakfast cereal almost ended my squad that has been around since 1988/87ish and wasn't stopped until he started urinating in HTC's Wheaties. Ya I missed those years .... So other than the Skyyr Years that I missed this community has progressively been getting worse over the years you can blame it on millennial or whatever but this game was a lot better before I left than it has been since I been back seems all the toxicity is still here but now there's just less people.

I really don't see much point in arguing about it .... HT will do what he wants.

If NMY was about balance than give us the tools to balance the arena like unlimited country swaps or really low wait times to change back like a few minutes. Basically make it so I can immediately get back after a country change due to NMY rather than making me wait hours or longer. I figure that's easier than tweaking the NMY values or making it turn off when numbers get to low or tweaking the perk system but all that works to.

I personally think we have more than established that NMY is in fact a major problem, question is will any one do anything to fix it? .... I doubt it, I was griping about this back in 2011, which is why I want to break my squads dependency on AH. I don't think we can survive it's demise like many squads didn't survive the death of Air Warrior III/MV. I'm honestly starting to beleive no one really cares enough about this game any more and it shows.

Funny that I’ve played this game since 2006 and it’s by far the most mild mannered game I’ve set foot in. It’s not even remotely close to joys of console gaming or the likes of battlefield where you get to here about race relations, whose sleeping with mom or you sexual preference.  At some point grow some skin or just go away and play checkers.

Logged in tonight at 10:30pm Pacific Time ....

5 Bishop 3 in flight
19 Knights 10 in flight
12 rooks 8 in flight

Nmy 29

Can't even fly a single f4u if I want to fly an F4 something it has to be an F4F.

It's the same every night. I guess this is another night I can't fly, I guess I'm gunna have to start looking for another game.

I logged in again at 11:00pm PT .... this is what I found ..... https://youtu.be/Ey6O8aWVAds

If the purpose of NMY is to keep the Arena balance then give us the tools to rebalance it without penalty! Unlock or lessen the country change restrictions. WTF makes it so damn hard for people to understand this.

This game is hemorrhaging paying players like a hemophiliac  .... How much more can we afford to loose till HT pulls the plug? What are you willing to do to save the game?

I'm at least one of the few willing to change sides on a fly to balance the arena so long as I can switch back when I want to. I was suggesting this as it's the easiest fix, a CM should be able to set the country swap limits in the SEAs they can also turn off nmy and perks so I don't see why country swaps can't be fixed in the MA so we can actually Frackin do what nmy is suppose to accomplish ... "SIDE BALANCING".
