While browsing my skins I realized this one was still affected by SuperShine (tm) so I decided to do a redraw.

An older thread shows one of these newest (2021) photos in it but that's because I linked directly to the skin page.  That link will show whatever the current main image for this skin is.   I may post a correction to that one later since it's fun to keep track of how skins evolve over time.

52nd Fighter Group, 4th Fighter Squadron
Italy, 1944-45

This P-51D-15-NA named "MOLLY" (S/N 44-15xxx) was assigned to the 15th Air Force's 325th Fighter Group, 319th Fighter Squadron. With side number 99 it was flown by Lt. Darwin R. Addis (four victories) out of Italy in 1944-45. Not a lot is available regarding this particular pilot or his airplane but it is an interesting study of a "Checkertail Clan" P-51D.

The 325th Fighter Group operated in the Mediterranean Theater flying P-47s until they were replaced by P-51s in May 1944. Their primary duty was the escort heavy bombers during long-range missions to attack German industry including the Messerschmitt factory at Regensburg, the Daimler-Benz tank factory at Berlin, oil refineries in Vienna, and other targets throughout Europe.

Thank you.    I may go back and darken a few panels after further review.   The source photo I used is a tad dark itself, though, so it may be unnecessary.    This is a lighter version of same.

I sent you a pm with some other 325th planes I have. We are adding a picture gallery to our website but I am waiting on Cutt and Swoop73 to send me more. Cutt, Swoop, and a few others met the checkertails at a convention they had once so there will be inside stories to the planes they flew from the pilots once I get it all organized.

I also did a P-51B for the 325th ("Penrod") which I need to tweak based on some newer photos.    Gotta' get to that soon.
