Looks like a 56 player limit and it's full. The Caucasus map. That's about 900 miles by 500 miles. Maybe a third of it is really usable.

There are sectors laid out along the southern half of the map. The sectors where the red meets the blue is the front. There are FOB's placed along the front sector and each side must try and drop troops at the FOB locations. After a period of time the server will reset, and the front will move based on troop placements and property gained. There is usually someone in the overlord position which is very helpful.

The map can either be Caucus's or Syria. The server is full a majority of the time.

The action is insanely great.

Looks interesting.

Someday I will have to try it out.  I like his points about Cold War and BVR.  BVR just doesn't interest me.  I could at least fly Hueys\hind until the Phantom comes out. ;)

No thanks.

Maybe instead of "no thanks" you should be saying "Thank you SIR! May I have another?!!"

DCS is loads of fun, in fact yesterday a buddy and I went up in F-5's and took on 4 MiG-21's several times. One devolved from a missile fight into a 3 on 2 twisty turny knife fight, and we still won! The last time we went up we really worked well as a team and those 4 MiG's died to our AIM-9P5's pretty quickly.

The DCS prop planes are way more difficult than Aces High, which is probably why not many fly prop planes in DCS. That and there are " NO ICONS " and that in itself turns away a lot of people.

I don't turn icons off on my server (JunkYard Dawgz) because some of us have old eyes and don't see as well as we used to.

It's great if you want to wrestle your plane while trying not to overheat while scanning the skies for invisible cons..

Takes way too much time to launch, get going in a fight then try to locate a target before they see you..

Too much work when you have less than an hour to play per day imo

Not interested in radar, missles and chaff which I am sure this game is great at

Auto start (and stop) is a thing in almost every aircraft although the mil-sim guys will hate on you for using it.

Is that server WW2?

Right now it's mid-cold war jets, A-4E, F-104G, Mirage F1 and F-5E-3 for the Blue team and MiG-15, 19, 21 and 23 for the Red team. I'll be making another mission for dubya dubya too though.

*edit* The Skyhawk and Starfighter are free mods and the Flogger is AI only atm.

*edit part deux* The F-5 is probably the easiest jet to learn and fly and I could help you out with that if you'd like.

In the current mission (which is essentially just brawling) players only have the F-5 and Mirage F1 as available rides atm and Boroda's cousins get the MiG-19 and MiG-21. Currently all aircraft are limited to a pair of IR missiles and a centerline fuel tank(?) I think. (I apologize for getting it wrong the first time.)

Start your plane, takeoff and head to an enemy base. If you kill the defenders that spawn, more will spawn, up to two times. The 4 aircraft types for each side that I mentioned earlier can spawn 1, 2 or 3 at a time. Once a random flight is chosen that same flight will respawn up to twice more if the first flight dies.

That process can be reset by leaving a rather large trigger zone and then returning to the enemy base.

I haven't started my dubya dubya too mission yet.

That said, what kinds of things would you like to see? Keep in mind I can set up things like Mossie raids into Normandy, B-17 raids, German air raids over southern Ang gland, ships that need sinking...land units that need eggs...tool sheds that need breakin..  ;)

I want to do these same things with the jet server and tomorrow I'll be working on a flowchart in order to get that done. I'll likely keep my imaginary friend busy helping write scripts. ;)

Video uploading right now, processing should be complete in 5 or 6 minutes.

https://youtu.be/AFp78qB-zjM

144 B-17Gs flying in combat box formations with P-47 escorts and Luftwaffe fighters on the prowl. (In this clip you only get to see the 109's and P-47's.)

There are FW-190D-9's and FW-190A-8's enroute to the bomber stream as well. I have .trk files of those but they only play in DCS.
