Doesn't appear to be DNS. I can connect via VPN but not without. I can ping 47.190.119.211 from VPN but no response without VPN. A tracert on both makes it to the next to last hop. I see it is Frontier which i also use. Could be a routing issue at Frontier.

If you're using VPN chances are you're using your VPN provider's DNS servers.

See if you can ping or traceroute 199.101.50.180, which is what the A-record is currently showing. That should be an indicator.

No idea what the game server IPs are though, but they must be DNS encoded otherwise you'd need a client update.

HT did you change provider or was it just a in-spot upgrade?

Look at the image I linked and you'll see I resolved the address to the same IP using the VPN and not. Replies through the VPN, no replies to same IP not. I'll link the tracert too.

Yep seems like DNS is breaking down at the 4th hop. Can you ping the IP with/without? If so then it's DNS. If not then it's a routing issue.

Btw it would be REALLY helpful if Dale would enlighten us on the game server's IPs. Tracing the BBS and/or website isn't going to help anyone get in the game.

DNS is only going to resolve the name to IP. I can't ping the IP without the VPN. I think Frontier has a routing table out of date somewhere. Will likely converge eventually. Curious if everyone having trouble is using Frontier for ISP.

Ping bbs.hitechcreations.com and you will see the IP. It is 47.190.119.211

Yes but that's just the BBS. The game servers are on different IPs.

I can't connect to the BBS.

Without VPN and with. No DNS up my sleeve.

Reminds me of a time several years ago when an AT&T client changed their static IP. Worked for many people but not other AT&T clients. Calling AT&T support is near the top of my unpleasant things to do list but no choice. After being transferred 4 or 5 times I finally spoke to an actually router tech. Told him where I was dropping the trace. He said the problem is not on their end. Yeah right buddy. 30 mins later the problem magically cleared.

Agreed your BBS issue isn't DNS related but could still be a result of the poorly managed IP change. At least the SSH cert is working.

I'll try again tonight... this might nail my coffin shut finally.  People squeaking on Facebook, I brought it up here.  I'm glad 50% of you can log in.. the other 50% is a problem this population can't absorb.

I'm in Canada, right smack in the middle at CFB Moose jaw, my ping before this change/upgrade was around 84 to 87 to the MA, now it's 65 to 66 consistently.  Bonus.

ProtonVPN has a free service. That may get the game working like it does the BBS. Until it's sorted.
