Music is extremely personal preference. Ya don’t have to know anything about music. Its either pleasing to your ear or its not. If it expresses how you feel in life or what you’ve experienced in life you’re likely to grasp onto it.
Music is like a scent. As soon as you smell/ hear it you’re memory of a moment is triggered.
Some of the music I hated back in the day I now like because it takes me back in time.
My older brother and I had a mutual friend who worked in a popular record store. Everything about that came out he introduced to my brother who then brought it home anf played it 200 times.
But, despite that I had what I now see as a very narrow music of hard rock and southern rock its the job I chose that forced me to branch out.
I don’t/didn’t pick who I went out with, unless they requested me. I’d get a call saying s band needs a monitor engineer and be assigned/offered the job. If you’re trying to make a living you’ll take whatever to pay the bills.i was exposed to everything from symphonies to Mel Torme to Rammstein. Things I normally would not choose to listen to. But, more often than not I walked away appreciating their stuff and show. It forced me out of my bubble and my library grew because of that exposure.
I can listen to Black Sabbath and Joe Satriani in the same day. If its done well I’ll listen. But, I’m not easily impressed. High quality steers me.
When I was on the road a lot, traveling to other places the songs played on the radio there was often different from the songs played here. So now we’re getting into culture. It also made me appreciate a wide range of people. After a while ya can’t help becoming more worldly. Ya learn a lot about people in music. I remember spending time in the Dakotas and coming back listening to Native American stuff, or a native group from African jungles, same thing.
No matter how music is played, no matter the culture, they all sing about the same things. Love, broken heart, happy, hope and grief. This helps understand most people. They are only different in culture. Sometimes with language barriers , you may not understand the words but you click right into what they are feeling.
Coming full circle, how music is dispersed these days has limitations and its a shame.some rich fat bastard decides. I refer back to the videos.
Post your music
What someone plays tells a lot of where a person has been or is in life, their personality.
Scenarios/events are very much like a concert production, including advertising it. Ya set it up to blow minds. Same process, same results.
