I never could relate to people with health issues before, but I certainly can now. I feel for you guys man. I've never had a doctor per say to see regularly and now all of the sudden I have at least 7 by last count and more to come. It's freaking nuts!
Nutrition has been on my mind constantly lately. I'm not really hungry but crave ice cream and candy bars all the time though. But that's probably from the vape pen
I have to start chemo on Monday and figure I need to pack some weight on for that whole ordeal. But the more I eat, the more it hurts coming out.
The doctors didn't want to come off of the Hydrocodon until yesterday. They gave me 22 pain pills since March. Yesterday they fixed me up with a few months worth of pain relief.
My 3rd doctor told me I was stage IV (which freaked me out) but the specialist said I'm only at a Stage II. That threw my thinking around 180 degrees. To literally not know if you're coming or going is a trip
Ride the wave baby, ride the wave. That's about all we can do

Ditch the frikkin vape pen.
Opiate pain killers will wreck your system, and lock your lower intestine. Use them as little as possible. And take a stool softener with them, force water in. You've not felt agony until you've used those stupid things and they lock you up solid.
Fair Life and Bolt House protein shakes are pretty decent. You can make milkshakes and pudding with them, with added protein powder. They threatened me with a feeding tube, and I told them I'd wreck the first person who touched me with that intent. I also made mixtures of crushed ice, 7Up or ginger ale, and citrus juices. You have to hydrate, and get something in for energy, even if it just lets your body make some heat. Getting dehydrated will make you light headed and unsteady. That stuff is all a last resort. Eat good quality proteins, with a medium amount of fat. Beef, pork, chicken, etc.
It was radiation to my neck that wrecked my appetite, everything tasted like a garbage can in the summer in the south. Chemo, and I had Cisplatin, never made me sick, even once. I was fortunate.
I went probably 9 weeks or so without eating an actual meal. And it took weeks to work up to eating decent. I missed both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. My radiation and chemo ended a week or so before Thanksgiving. It started not long after Labor Day. I probably started eating normally around Valentines day. I went from just under 250# to right at 170#. Even after I started eating, I had IV hydration twice a week, and they had to add stuff like potassium, because the treatment and lack of nutrition will deplete that. Getting potassium is great. It turns a one hour IV hydration therapy into a 6-8 hour stay, because they can't give it to you quickly without stopping your heart.....
If I didn't explain elsewhere, I had cancer in my right tonsil, it was caused by the HPV virus, which can also cause colorectal and anal cancer. The virus is as common as the common cold. Mine went close to a year from symptom onset until actually diagnosed and treated. It reached stage IV. They give you the most radiation for head and neck cancers, I had the maximum. After treatment, the cancer was gone. So was a lot of my soft palette. Unfortunately, since it took so long to get it diagnosed (as much my fault as anyone, (I was asymptomatic other than minor inflammation) it got into my lymph nodes. Had two surgeries. Total of 56 lymph nodes removed between my lower jaw and my collar bones, from my ear lobes forward.
