He doesn't stop if ignored, he is constantly attacking the whole country and then berates anyone who dares do something else on the map.  The in-game report isn't explained anywhere, I assumed it send a recent log to a mod to see that it's a legitimate report. It shouldn't be a big deal that causes the mod to ban the reporting player.  If they read the logs they would see that BB needs to be muted for the sake of a non-toxic play.  It's already hard enough for new players to even get inside the game, the servers upload speeds are .25 mbps, taking over 2 hours to download the game, then another 20 minutes to download whatever map is active...we don't need new players berated and then banned for reporting it.  I wasn't banned for responding to BB, I was banned for reporting his behavior.

As for the ".report" it marks a spot in the logs for HTC to check and find easily. The server also keeps count of the number of reports on players. When it hits the limit set by HTC that player gets an automatic mute, no warning, just a mute. The player can request a check from HTC if they believe they were unjustly muted. If they were (a group of players reported the same player for no reason other than getting their chat privilege's cut) those doing the reporting get muted by HTC, but that usually takes days to turn around.

If a MOD gets involved they will usually WARN a player to settle down or else. If you then text a MOD with anything its an automatic mute, or if you dont drop the issue at hand you were warned about. You can ask HTC to check out the issues with the MOD by email, but for the most part I have never heard of a MOD getting taken down by HTC. They are usually right with how they handle the situation, or they wont be MODs for very long.

IMO, There is a fine line between rpt and squelch. Like extremes, If its disrupting the arena for a period of time, like consuming the text buffer, physical threats, illegal activity it needs to be reported at some point.

That said Shane makes a point. Some of those who report him are worse. We do have players abuse the rpt button, here too.

I have a small group that if I even reply to a thread they are in they stand on the rpt button, yet no punishment. Have you seen me post anything lately that requires a report? Yet right now my account is under Watched status. That group should be muted too.

So ya, when it comes down to it, over-zealous use of rpt here and there needs a clamp and example. Even if not so deserving, an example is required to get the word out to knock it off.

Apparently in my response to gldnbb's continued harrasment I probably called him an idiot and got myself banned for 7.6 days (what an odd number)...
It is quite alarming considering the crap he spews every single day to the whole team. 
Cancelled the auto-sub but who am I kidding, i'll probably be back.

I came on a little late for the "episode", but as I understand it someone posted on 200 "everyone should just report this guy".

I emailed right away because I knew I didn't say anything bad, I found out later that there was a suggestion to report him, I had already done so based on his texts.   Will just have to be careful next time and only report someone's naughty texts if I think someone else hasn't done so recently.

When I switched to rook I saw that BB was being his usual obnoxious self but to Haggerty this time, and Haggerty is almost always very chill. Picko thought it was funny but I was gritting my teeth because I'm one of the usual targets and I'm tired of it and don't like seeing it being done to others.
So, yeah, I reported him. Not to get him muted (although that would have been a very welcome side-effect). But because his demeanor deserved it. And yeah, I could have just squelched him and have done so in the past, but then you're being slandered over and over with no ability to defend yourself against false accusations because you don't know what he's lying about this time around. Not really a great option.
