stdshapes.res .. maybe a major reason subscription is low

I am trying to install aces high into a new msi gaming laptop on a 500mb high speed connection...

The current download speed for the stdshapes.res file can do nothing but chase potential customers away..

I was getting less than 1meg download speed taking about 50 minutes for this critical file to download..

Not sure who would not think this is an issue with the game and bail without sticking around for the download to complete..

Not sure why the speed is so dang slow but it should not be so painful to install the game imo

This is a problem for sure.

It's the 4th time I've heard about this issue in the last 6 months.

When I had the problem I was getting 2mb download speed. I got it faster when BigR uploaded it to his sever, 5 min.

This seriously needs attention.

Dale has been aware of this issue since at least 2021. I had conversation with him in regards to this over the phone. It's now 2025...

Yes Animl, it needs serious attention. Yall dont understand why I've got so bitter at times over ENY and in-game issues. It's been almost 4 years since I inquired about this and no fix.

I have wanted to see this game grow and tried to help in many ways. Status quo works against us in this regard. Pisses me tf off that I was ignorant to think this game could have a resurgence.

The original AHI download was something ridiculously small....under 80 M if I recall correctly. I know, that was then; this is now but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

You're in TX and prolly on a different trunk. Not sure anyone is pinging that server IP to see the routing issues from where they are. I can go to another site and get flaming download speeds.

lol nah, it's a server issue of some sort.

I installed it twice. Took less than 2 minutes both times. No server issue for me.

I uninstalled of course before reinstalling but in case the file was cached somewhere I tried it on a machine on which it has never been installed. Surprisingly it took longer, but only 5 mins.

And no, my gateway does not cache anything.

Curious how long it takes for you to download a new skin batch eagler.. do you download in game or from the bbs?

My system is older, but I remember the download taking awhile back when it was new.

In game skins downloading takes hours now.. not sure if they are related

I get .25 mbps download speed to Hitech stuff, even as an IT guy it was extremely frustrating getting the game going through initial download freezes and download speeds.  I seem to have some sort of hybrid install now.  I was using steam and tried to go with the website version, it did the initial 300mb install before it started trying to download the rest (not realizing it was going to my steam folder instead of a new one)...I gave up on the 2gb, but now have directx9 launcher that I can use with the steam version, no more stutter.

The three large files for skins from the bbs each does the same down throttling as the downloads begin

Maybe that's the issue,  it's not seen when tested inside Texas but is ridiculously slow for others..I wouldn't stick around for them to complete if I didn't love the game as I do..
