It it's taking prospective customers an hour to download the trial for this game, that is a big problem.

BTW, if you change the end of your link to "dl=1"  it should just start and auto download when clicked.

 :salute

Boom! done and yup. Thanks

There was a legitimate problem with something relating to downloading game content.  People reporting the issue don't need to grow up.  More like, thanks for brining the problem to attention.  The childish reply in this conversation was yours.

Glad to hear the issue wasn't present for your latest download Brooke.  Hopefully that holds true for other folks downloading the game in the future

when i first started this game, it took over an hour to download. its all based on internet speed and traffic. whats good for one, isnt always good for all, and you just have to deal with it. as i did!

There are some variables why it works for some and not others. It could also have, hopefully been fixed. This was not a problem for everyone. It was for me DLing at .87 mb rate.

With todays gamers demanding instant gratification it could in fact be a deterrent for the impatient.

I haven’t heard about it since these posts. It could have been fixed.

It's not, though. There is (or was) clearly a bottleneck somewhere.

And how big was the game you downloaded? This is a 2gb file that even with a 100Mbps connection should take 2 minutes. Telling the few prospective new players to just grow up and deal with it seems like a poor way to get them to try our game.

This MAY have to do more with Frontier, Routing and/or Location.

The fact it works for some and not others suggest its not a HTC issue.
The fact that there was Frontier issues, depending on your location during the connection update makes their system suspect.

The affect of any problem or glitch on a user would suggest poor programming and maybe not worth it. Its not good for company credibility or reputation, certainly not good for attracting new users. Think about if they post the issue on other forums making the game lame.

We know how to fix it, a new user less likely. We’re not worried about us.

Meh! We all mean well.

The difference is most of todays gamers are of the "I want it now!" generation and have no patience to wait for a download let alone one they are not expecting.

Likely Frontier as I said before. I gave my experience and was insulted. For the record going back to '94 I've probably taken and passed over 60 Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, etc certification tests including Novell Master CNE. MCSE, Cisco CCNA. Certifications mean little but I have the experience to go with it. Some of them.

Dale should just spin up a VM on linode or similar service. All these problems would go away. Its not that much money at all especially since this game server can run on a potato. No more downtime during storms. No more bandwidth issues. Granted, our player base is moving in the wrong direction so he may not think its worth it.

About a year ago I had switched from cable internet to fiber optics.  Fiber had major problems getting to AH because of a problem in the hop in LA. It was not fixable according to the fiber co. I finally had to switch back to cable after hurricane Helene tour up the fiber optics.  Never had a problem since.
