Yeah AK's are flying with the Knights this month. That will impact your eny. :aok

You can get beat up badly by an AK hoard raid but doggone it can be quite exciting trying to stop them.   :aok

No disrespect to the AKs—but let's be honest, they're notoriously known as one of the least strategically impactful squadrons in Aces High history. They put up a big red cloud, sure—but when the dust and smoke settle, it's rare to see them take a base or even make it back to land the sortie when flying as a group.

Now, don't get me wrong—AKs offer great wingmanship. Every single one of them is a pleasure to talk to. Nothing but respect on a personal level. But for the sheer number of AKs on the roster, all I ever seem to get in return... is high ENY.

Isn't that a damn shame?

It is not!  Not everyone wants to be strategically impactful.  Many of us are here just to enjoy the fun of the fight.

They mainly focus on stirring up fights and they are good at that. Many great furballs have been started by them. Most people who fly fighters DGAF about winning the war. They have a fair number of good fighter sticks on their roster. They are fun to fight. Someone not playing the way you think they should doesn't equal "a damn shame". You and GoldnBB would be good friends.

2nd the DGAF about winning the "war"...

I think the win the map mindset is currently the issue with the game with the reduced numbers on the large spread out maps..

This is what the game is. Always has been. And always will be.

I never cared about the war either, but I'm glad for the people that do.
As someone who likes to defend bases, those people are my target audience.  :D

This attitude is one that has always bothered me. The diversity of play styles is this games strength. With out the other styles this game would have folded years ago. With out the "win the war" players how many fighters would you have? A good guess would be MnM. How long would the game last if that was all we had?

The "war" is what brings everyone together. Guys attacking trying to take a base, others defending trying to stop them. Strat runners trying to slow the attack/defense down opens up high alt attacks on bombers, CV battles and so on.

We all need each other to keep this game going on.

To explain why we sometimes fail taking a base then other squads is because we take challenges flying missions that we have set before squad night.  Those mission sometimes are not to take a base but like others have stated, to stir up a fight.  Other missions are to fly only japanese, german, russian, etcc. and are we flying early, mid or late war planes.  We just play together as a team and have fun.  Besides, our squad night on monday nights is only for an hour.

This is great! I remember one evening I was trying to defend a base in a Brewster along with a few others in planes and some tank dudes. Suddenly, like 15 Brewsters or so came through a gap in the mountains and absolute chaos ensued. I was subsequently shot down by AKGreyga while I was killing a 51 and the base was taken pretty quickly but damn if it wasn't fun. I even shot a couple guys using a field gun after not being able to get a plane.

I love this kinda stuff, a bunch of dudes having a good time....I'll bet the radio banter was a blast.  Keep at it, AK's!
