I try not to buy broken things before I buy them, unless I plan on restoring it to some sort of value.
I dont think that's what people looking to try a new game are all about..
You say some are having the problem... how many is that? Sounds unknown.
About a dozen or so have reported it here, but like you said "Over half of the people playing the game dont come here Fugi.". As for how many hit the issue and walk away, yes that is very much unknown, and yes it sucks. On the other hand players wouldnt last long here anyway.
If one of these players bought a VR head set and had issues getting it set in a game, any game, it sounds like they would just give up on it and not bother with VR. I and Im sure many others would work to get it going. "Haggerty" found that by using a vpn he could get around the issue. I guess he didnt give up either.
You say you dont think Dale could fix it.. sounds like an assumption.
Or logic. If most players have no issues with the downloads but some do that tells me there is a bad hop or two between servers out there. "Haggerty's" fix using a vpn confirms it. Dale doesnt control the route the data is run on. He is solely at the mercy of his ISP and their routing systems on the net. He has two options,
1) enter a service ticket with his ISP and hope they care enough to try and find/fix the issue working with who knows how many other companys that maintain these servers along the many, many routes across the US.
2) Switch ISPs. of course you may only move that bad hop or two to to effect a different part of the country, change nothing at all, or make it worst by hitting slower servers. "Skuzzy" use to call out one server group.... net3 or something that was well known for over selling their servers causing slow down or even lost packet due to heavy traffic.
Its a piss poor first impression.. bottom line.
Agreed, but like I said there is very little to do. He could add the information about using a vpn if a person hit a slow download on the download page itself. More than likely it wouldn't help as most people will get to that page and without reading anything hit that big ol' orange DOWNLOAD button.
