"Fighter Ranks" seems messed up, or?

This tour I will try to keep an eye on my rank - allthough I cant say I understand what is happening.

Yesterday I was around No 60 in the "Fighter Rank", since then I have had a couple of kills, but today I fell like a stone on the charts, currently No 100.

At the moment My score looks like this (have only flown fighter sorties)

This repeatable for a lot of the entries in the "Fighter Rank" entries.
I just cant figure it out.I should be way up the list compared to the two above mentioned exampels.Can anyone help me out here?

Think fighter rank is based on your perk points, danish. Or just messed up

In "Perk Points Overview" it says "These points are totally separate from the regular scoring system."

So messed up I guess.Damn.Odd as it may seem good statistics is what gets me going

I think it weighs total points more than it should. Someone who spends 10 hours a day online and has a crappy K/D but a load of points can outrank someone with a high K/D but not many points.

In real life the scoring ends when you die.

Kill to Death is all that really counts with fighters, and you can't properly mix fighter scores with vehicles and bombers to come up with a good total ranking. If you don't land you don't score! If you ditch in friendly territory, then maybe some minor adjustment.

As a result these categories of fighter, vehicle, bomber, attack, should be kept apart and not totalled into one best rank.

If, for example, Sunchaser was the best bomber pilot, then Sunchaser should be listed as the #1 in that category. His bomber score shouldn't be mixed with the late Citabria's fighter score to try to decide which one ranks #1. They both rank #1 in their respective categories.

Keep it simple. Leave out all those percents, time on, time in, time out, damage, etc. etc.

Rank the #1 in each category as the one who can do the most and live to tell about it. Quit digging up wrecked planes to view the gun camera film to see if the dead pilot gets credit for something. Just send the family his Purple Heart and his belongings.

I had a k/d of 2.4 in tour 12, but only ranked about 230 in the fighter stats, 38 overall.

I'm guessing the points for k/d are moderated by the amount of time it took to get those kills, the number of sorties used etc.

But the overwhelming factor is the time taken to get those kills.

At the moment I have dropped to No 108, and havnt flown anything.If the Fighter Rank scoring is just messed I would suspect at least some fluctuation, that is I should advance some - and then drop some.

That I am in a steady fall implies that either there is a simple "Time Used In Arena" modifier, or a modifier coupled up to other scorings.

With the old scoring the your K/D would keep you more or less on the same spot, even if you had to not play for a day or two.

I will not play on this account for some days.If I keep falling steadily then the Fighter Score isnt messed up.

I think the ranking takes into account number of kills and what plane you used to get it etc, time spent, time per kil etc as well as k/d and k/s

IMO the only metric worth comparing is the k/d. The rank is rubbish. I think i was ranked 90th or something for tour 12 with a k/d of around 4:1 for about 150 planes killed. I wanted to work on improving k/d in tour 12, and the stats show i did. I dont care about rank per se.

99.9% of my air2air kills in Tour 12 were in the La-5, yet I was still ranked 240. I don't think the type of plane flown has any bearing on the scores. If it did, the scores would be effectively linked to the perk points system (since a weaker plane gets more perk points per kill, generally speaking). I believe one system is independent to the other.

On the subject fo falling through the rankings, the complete opposite happened several times last tour. Without playing the game, I wouold gain rank. This is to be expected (obviously), since the players above me must have gone online and died a few times.

On the other hand it's more fun to forget the score and just play the game.

Spatula agree that K/D is *the* most important parameter (that is why I would like it back as a sole rank), but if this value is linked only to things like hit % or K/S I would not expect my rank to fall steadily.

A time factor must then be coupled as well: that can be gathering of points (function of time) or simply time spent in arena.In other words: No-Job/No-Life modifiers.

Each time I read the "Scoring in 1.05" site I get more confused.Im not sure all facts are out there.

EDIT: All kills in the La5, except I don't believe there is a score modifier for each plane you fly.

Danish, read my last post. You can't get time for just being in the arena. My rank actually went up, even though I didn't fly for about a week and a half.

I surmise that if you get lots of kills in a shot amount of time you will gain rank.

Dowding agree that your experience contradict the time factor.But I dont think that its Kills/Time that makes the big difference either.

The exampel No 98 on my first post: he has same K/T better hit % and way better Points (2591.8083 v 898.0035 - how did he do that?), while I have way better K/D and better K/S.In other words: he dies a lot.Example No 77 on the other hand is a real fast killer (Kills/Time 0.0023 v 0.0010 ), he has some more points (1437.6679 v 898.0035 ) but other than that..

Nah just cant figure it out.Still will not fly a little while just to see what happens.

AKSeawulfe: I dont question your position on the Fighter Ranks, or others for that matter.I just dont understand the math behind it.At all.I used to follow my K/D rather close all tours from day one.This is behaving totally different.
