Just read about this, and it bothers me that it didn't get more publicity over here in the states.

http://europe.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/03/07/germany.troops/?related

Just to let everybody know that people here in the US do appreciate their sacrifice.

and Rest in Peace.

Funked,

I saw the story on NBC and it was in my hometown paper fairly prominantly. FWIW.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I know a fair number of people from these countries play here (StSanta, etc).

May god bless their brave souls.

...Also, historically making the Germans mad has been a REAL bad idea.  Nice to see them channeling their inate military ability into the war on Terror, and fighting for freedom.  I'd like to see the Bund's up on the front line with the Americans/Canucks/etc.  That'd be a great show of solidarity and commitment, not to mention it'd scare the hell out of these other pissant countries like Iraq/Iran/N.Korea/etc, to see Nato actually operating as it was supposed to - in unison.

Do you really believe that many people in Germany see this stupid hollywood-war as a war against terrorism and for freedom?

Our politicians say in their declaration what they have to say - but this is really not, what the population here is thinking.

In this point Germany has the same weak position as the FDR to the USSR: Their officials also applauded when the "peace-loving" USSR "helped" the socialist government in Afghanistan against the bad mujaeddin-terrorists. This was also called in their propaganda a just and glorious fighting against terrorism and for the freedom of the people.

We in Germany have to accept this - but please dont believe, that we are happy to be involved in a stupid and senseless propaganda-war and to see our soldiers dying for it.

There are American, Canadian and European soldiers in Afghanistan right now. They are putting their lives on the line, for our safety. They are risking their lifes, for our sake. Some even paying the ultimate price, the ultimate sacrifice, to protect us all here back home.

And then you sit and type filth like this? You miserable diddly!
Get the diddly away from this thread, and never post here again you sad pathetic piece of toejam!

HOW DARE YOU

And in the very same thread where people wanted to show their respect for the Soldiers killed in action. Have you no shame?

Do you piss in church too?

You sad, pathetic coward.

Sure do....

Nothing I wrote even comes close..it was more a knee jerk reaction to someone who was writing something that offended me...

Xenophobia means "fear of foreigners" and is generally used to describe bigotry perpetrated against immigrants.

Dictionaries are not that expensive...don't you own one yet?

They are?  Where?  NOTHING is free where I live.

Intolerance?

Yea, I guess I am intolerant when someone calls the war in Afganistan a mere propaganda war.

All of the countries that sent troops over there are fighting to prevent another 9/11...that is what the war is about!

Trivialising the war just pisses me off!
