Wabbit, we don't disagree actually. Clearly, you have chosen to disregard SA entirely and fly only the La7 and P51. Knowing the way many of your squad fly, I'd say you are also usually cruising around with a pack of friendlies, waiting for them to stir something up so you can dive on it for the easy kill.
There is nothing wrong with the way you fly, I'm not saying there is. Some people get enjoyment out of that, and some people don't. You happen to be a person that does, I happen to be a person that doesn't.
As far as many of you are concerned.. you are throwing up the same old roadkill you've been throwing up for ages. If you don't want to get gangbanged, don't FIGHT! It was your own lack of Situational Awareness that led you to select the 109E4 for this sortie anyway, so don't you yell at MY squad if we choose to engage you 30 on 1, ok?! It is YOUR FAULT, not OURS.
Guys.. the argument is roadkill and you know it is roadkill. Clearly, there are some folks here that enjoy participating in a 15 on 1 (as long as they have the 15, that is). They think it is FUN to compete with the other 14 guys to see who will get the kill and who will merely get an assist. I personally find it tiresome, and it is getting old rather fast.
Furthermore, I actually do understand that expecting NOT to get gangbanged by 5 or 6 guys every time I try to get in a fight IS a personal failing of mine. I've grasped some minor points of human nature, one of which is that people will damn near ALWAYS try to take the easy route. It is obviously easier to get kills in an La7 than it is to get them in a 109F4. This would be why you see a lot of people in La7s, and not so many in 109F4s. It is also much MUCH easier to kill someone who is already in a fight with 1, or 3, or 5, or 26 enemies... so of course people will attempt to get the 'easy' kill instead of looking for one that might be a challenge (or as they think, one they might actually LOSE! *GASP*). For whatever reason, there are some people that actually enjoy a challenge. It is a rather stupid way to play any game... but for some reason there are a few people out there that enjoy flying these planes that are so inferior to the "BEST" planes that people like AKWabbit wouldn't even dream of flying them offline. I happen to be one of those people... I think Karnak is one of them too.
You see Wabbit.. it is pretty easy to look at someone and scoff
"Ha. you have no SA! You are totally inferior if you allow yourself to get in a situation where you are being attacked by 8 enemy planes. You are a FOOL! Why don't you run away and live to fight another day, like ME?!"
... when the two planes that YOU fly are 2 of the top 4 when in comes to speed on the deck.
Want to know how fast the 109E4 is on the deck? With WEP on it makes around 290. Yea, thats 290, with a TWO. You probably don't even get that slow unless you are on autoclimb, huh? When pretty much every other plane in the game can run your bellybutton down, it isn't a matter of SA. Take a break from your speed demons. Fly a Spit for a tour, see if you change your mind about how important 'SA' is in avoiding a gangbang.
Don't worry, I already know you won't, so you don't have to feel like you let me down by saying no.
EDIT: I was just checking my score (which incidentaly I enjoy doing, so I'd like the scores to stay). I decided to check AKWabbits score as well, with my reasoning being with his superior SA he should obviously have much better stats than I have. He also flies what I could consider to be planes that are much superior to what I have flown this tour, so I figured he should really have an edge on me. Rather surprisingly, he doesn't. My K/D is higher, my K/S is higher, my accuracy is much higher (which doesnt surprise me.. fly the 109E for a while.. you will be a crack shot real fast, same with the 202), and my K/T is better. So, how can this be I ask? Surely, at least according to him, I am an inferior pilot with no ability to judge what is going on around me. So how can I manage to have better statistics in every single Fighter category?
Ok, sarcasm mode over. I get to be an amazinhunk when I start getting frustrated and pissed off, but I think the point is a valid one however bluntly I put it. AKWabbit... I'm not a poor pilot. In fact, I'd even hazard a guess that I'm probably a tad better than you are. My real point is that you have absolutely no idea what you are criticising (SP?! lol) because you don't worry about it at all. You make a mistake in a one on one fight? Drop that nose and WHOOSH... 'Where'd he go?" "Where'd WHOOOOO go?!" (and hell, in the La7 you dont even have to drop the nose). You make a mistake in a 109E4 against a SpitIX? You die. You start a fight with one bad guy and his 9 squaddies arrive to help? Adios! Punch that big red button and warp the hell out of there in your trusty La-7. Get in the same situation in a 109E4? You die. SA be damned. You see them coming? You STILL die.
