Guess I'll be in the La7 from now on.

well widewing, if i were logged on and anywhere in vis of you in that situation, i'd have been right on your tail trying to help clean up the overflow of sewage there.

i find this whole thread kind of ironic since i merely mildly whined about constant 3 on 1's in the CT (on radio) and ended up getting a timeout from an over-eager CT staffer.

It's always been my contention that anything more than an active 2 on 1 (unless the 1 has the advantage) is pure lameness and not only insulting to the 1, but also to the 2 already involved.

but then i pause to remember: everyone suxors anyway!!!

:)
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

Heh WW, been there myself  BUT!!

I have also seen friendlies in their spits or what have you dive in amongst 5-6 defenders and start TnB'n em....

Well there I am in my typh 5k above goin ????

I'll make BnZ passes on that swarm until I start seeing higher dots comin, and then reevaluate.

If I dive in amongst 5-6 co-e enemy... I don't expect help, as I've already given up the RTB.

IF enemy is trying to gangbang us (rarely happens) we just go away to another field and let gangbangers take fields.

As usual... Lazs has opened his amazinhunk to speak without opening his eyes to find out what the thread is about.  Good job Lazs.  Excellent contribution .

Ideally, an attack on a heavily defended field should include five elements. They should arrive and attack in the following order.

1) Bombers; to knock out FHs, fuel, radar and VH. This sets up attrition as a factor for defenders.

2) Jabos; kill any field acks and GVs. Kill city.

3) T&B type fighters; engage, occupy and kill enemy fighters.

4) B&Z fighters; bounce isolated defenders and protect Jabos and T&B fighters from gangbanging.

5) Goons and/or troop carrying GVs/LTVs.

In this plan, you would be performing the roles defined in 2 and/or 4. So, there is no discprepancy between what you stated and what your role should be in this type of environment.

What bothered me was that a significant portion of the pilots at 61 refused to engage unless they could do so with complete safety. They attacked nothing until the enemy had been greatly depleted by those who were willing to wade in, regardless of the enemy numbers. They were not completely useless, as we can always use them as worst-case examples.

I did take the time to jot down a few user names. This will allow me to know who I can depend on, or not depend on in the future.

It's all about teamwork. Unfortunately, some are not interested in teamwork, but only interested in padding their numbers with minimal risk.

For God's sake guys, are you all forgetting, that this is only a game.  It's not WW3.  Urchin/Wab you are both two real good sticks and TBH all this nastyness is unbecoming of both of ya.  Kiss and make up:confused:

I distinctly remember a 1:1 engagement with a certain pilot.  I was in a P-51B and he in an 190A-8.  He decided to press the engagement and I ended up on his 6.  He tried every trick in the book from flopping to trying to force an overshoot.  I stuck behind him slowly pinging away at him with my 4 .50s.  As we wound down towards the deck, two P-51s showed up to spoil the fight.  I had to break off as one zoomed in on me and ended up coming around HO with the 190 as we both fired.  I got the kill and was killed about 10 seconds later by the second P-51.

Urchin: "I didn't know the AKs knew how to fly"

Typical.  I think about that engagement every time I read this tripe from you Urchin.  Seems you have a real issue whenever an AK shoots you down.  You have to get on channel one or come here and complain about how awfull they were for doing it or how unfairly it was done.  Time to get rid of that chip.  Either that or get used to it... cause it seems to happen alot.

People flying la7s is due to scoring?  On what exactly do you base this opinion? (The only people I've heard "score" from so far are the little girls upset about what other people are flying).

In fact, if you all would stop worrying about score for a bit, you might actually enjoy being the 1 vs the 12, like most of us who realize we are simply playing a game do.

What i'm thinking about is why are you stupid enough to fly into a herd of enemy plane's....la7 or not.....work on your SA dipchit and maybe you'll survive longer and won't have to whine so much.

just an opinion:p

Advantages come in many forms.  It can be via a superior aircraft, a superior position or from superior experience and skill.  Urchin, you sound like a very good pilot and I commend you for taking the 109E up in the MA.  It sounds like you aren't really doing all that poorly at it based on your write-up comparing your score to AKWabbits.  Seriously though, those people who have little skill (like me) or are new don't always want to be targets and they'll sometimes try to pad their chance of success with either numbers or plane-type.  I for one will NEVER step into an LA7 or N1K and feel for those who prefer earlier-war aircraft...because I am one of those.  I too grumple at the LA7s who toss me around like a seal between two Orcas.  But be flexible and adapt.  I'm sure you'll find a new way to troll for targets that'll put you in much less of dire straights in no time soon.  But at least now you can probably empathize with the newbie or those who just can't grasp a 3-dimensional fight on a 2-dimensional monitor.

Anyway, I agree and disagree with you overall.

Kieran,

Although I wasn't there that night, it is my understanding he threw a tirade on channel 1 as well.
