Well there I am in my typh 5k above goin ????
I'll make BnZ passes on that swarm until I start seeing higher dots comin, and then reevaluate.
If I dive in amongst 5-6 co-e enemy... I don't expect help, as I've already given up the RTB.

Ideally, an attack on a heavily defended field should include five elements. They should arrive and attack in the following order.
1) Bombers; to knock out FHs, fuel, radar and VH. This sets up attrition as a factor for defenders.
2) Jabos; kill any field acks and GVs. Kill city.
3) T&B type fighters; engage, occupy and kill enemy fighters.
4) B&Z fighters; bounce isolated defenders and protect Jabos and T&B fighters from gangbanging.
5) Goons and/or troop carrying GVs/LTVs.
In this plan, you would be performing the roles defined in 2 and/or 4. So, there is no discprepancy between what you stated and what your role should be in this type of environment.
What bothered me was that a significant portion of the pilots at 61 refused to engage unless they could do so with complete safety. They attacked nothing until the enemy had been greatly depleted by those who were willing to wade in, regardless of the enemy numbers. They were not completely useless, as we can always use them as worst-case examples.
I did take the time to jot down a few user names. This will allow me to know who I can depend on, or not depend on in the future.
It's all about teamwork. Unfortunately, some are not interested in teamwork, but only interested in padding their numbers with minimal risk.
