I flew in festers 262 raid.. that was pretty cool

I was glad to see you guys arrive. You cleared out all of the high cons and we could concentrate on those attacking the field without constantly having to look up. Thanks.

Either join a squad and fly with them, or rely on yourself to get the job done. Very few friendlies, except the experienced ones, are worth any frustration over what they're doing. I just ignore their icons and throw them 6 calls if they need it. Otherwise, I don't take notice to them.

As far as the La7 thing, that too is all relative. I managed a 23 kill streak before I died in it back in Tour 14 when it first came out.... then in Tour 23 I had a 38 kill streak in a 190A8 before I died.

Throw a neophyte joystick jockey into a La7, and I'll bet he'll only manage 1 kill with 24 deaths.

Hows this for a coincidence? I reached 23 kills without a loss and then collided with the wreckage of a B-17 that I had just shot the wings off of. Okay, I suppose that doesn't really figure as an air to air loss, but it shows up in the stats as a death nonetheless.

Oh well...

I agree that the pilot is a big factor. That is why some guys run up big scores in decidedly non-uber fighters. Skill is usually enough to offset flying a less capable aircraft.

As I get the hang of flying energy fighters, my numbers have improved a bit. Discounting kills of GVs and kills as a gunner, I have 111 air to air kills. If I discount losses to groundfire and accidents, I have lost 11 fighters in air to air (overall score is 194/41). That's a significant improvement over my first two tours. If I can avoid being too aggressive, I think the deaths would drop by 50%. As it is, I still tend to push too hard and consequently take losses that are unnecessary. All part of the learning process.

I was there that day Widewing and I do understand you. It was weird mess and I remember how I was wondering how we dont get those 9 and 10 back.

When we lost 9 there was no guys attacking vs enemy fleet. Finally enemy lost cv but too late. Everybody wanted just fight vs fighters. (maybe not all but most) Right after loosing 9 I started a goon from 53 and listened radio how people was going to hit 9. When I arrived to 9 there wasnt anyone?? I dropped troops but 1 build and ack was still up. Maybe ack was just woke up because it didnt hit me and I survived until some spitdweeb shot me down halfway to 53..

After that I concertrated 10 and took lvt, everything was down in 10 it was in our hands. Unfortunately VH was up in 9 and lonely M16 became and shot several guys down in 10 including my lvt.

Then I upped F4U and saw enemy fleet closing, I tried to attack it but enemy fighters were too many and I was forced to air to air combat. After I died I took a CV gun and started to shoot PTs and fighters + enemy CV. Then something came up and I had to log.

Widewing, atleast the rooks were attacking.

When i log in (late night, early morning EST) and lok at the knight population, we usually have the following:

- A big hug furball somewhere and two thirds off the knight just going there.

- A small attack group, that tries to organize attacks, but usually is fend of bye a more than double the size enemy scramble crew.

- Open flanks were organized bish and rook raiding parties rush in to capture one field after anonther.

Only thing i can do in that situation is pronounce on country channel that Base XY is attacked, hop over the base (if not already CAPed) or nearest friendly base. Jumping i my trusty D9 (LA7 or SpitIX would often be better, but i just love that kite) and trying to defend that base and trying to locate the goon.

i.e. yesterday i logged in, and found one of my squaddies defedning A18 all on its own. It was nighttime and he told me that there were low level JABOs and C47 inbound time and time again. I 1st had to supply A18 to get the city at least a little up. Than took of in a Spit V and fought most often 2 v 1 odds in defense.
After about 20-30 mins another squaddie jumped in. Now we were 3 guys defending 18. And through teamwork we actually managed to place pressure on 17, bye forcing the aircombat closer to it. We still had a constant stream of boggies inbound. Would say we were always fightng about 3-4 while 2-4 were otw to join the fight.
Than when A18 was save and our CV was closing to 17, suddenly knights wer spawing everywere, but not to attack 17, NO! They just saw the big red bar, with many visible dar dots cause of CV dar and wanted to join what looked to them as the beginning of a huge furball.

I can barrely remember when i did my last JABO mission, i have the feelng i am constantly defending critical areas. Often against superior numbers, every now and than i take a break and join a horde capping an enemy field or orbit a furball to get some "relaxed" kills.

There are exellent mission builders in Knighsland (Ripsnort & Hazed to name two), but they are usually not on when i play.
So i know what you mean widewing, but we can't force those guys to play different, they pay the same 15$ a month as we do and they all just want their fun.

It's basicly the same as if a Spit/Nikki-circle King calls me "runner" cause i don't turnfight him. Only difference is, you can't teach your countrymates with your guns that you know what your are doing.

There seems to be a furball crowd in every country that does not care what happens around. In a small country like Rooks (in my flying times, late evenings GMT+2) that also means that there are less people looking after the home defence.

Last night we lost 4 bases very quickly and Bishes got one base from our home island at north (Isles map) while the furball crowd was having their fun at the center island against Knits.

I am very pleased at the counter action that followed though

Many Rooks woke up and took back those bases fairly quickly. Bishes did not get to roam around at home island for too long.

widewing... thank you for explaining how good you are. A lot of times we never realize that the person posting is so talented. A lot of the times we are simply left with finding out on our own. I watched one of your kills last nite and if i you hadn't explained how great you are then I would have simply wrote it off as a guy attacking from advantage on a busy con and getting the kill before the other 3 guys could.

I will take all the easy kills I can get. I take em if they are luck or part of an organized gangbang. The difference is.. In the organized gangbang the action never varies and is..... SLOW. I don't care about risk free. Even someone as unskilled as myself get's bored with organized gangbangs. I can't imagine people actually wishing for em.

Ahhh! The mystery of flying in Rookland. I have seen it myself and find it pathetic

IMO, the best thing to do is either log off, or fly in another fight at another part of the map. Folks like that aren't going to respond to your complaints or change what they are doing. Voice warnings or comms? Hell, I recall on that day, there were no check 6 calls nor, voice warnings issued at all in the 9/10 sector. When I see a conga line, I automatically figure it's a group of dweebs, and I steer away from them. They will only attract higher nme who are figuring they are dweebs and easy kills, and will feast on them like Hawks on a rabbit. My advice, get away from em and quickly.

I suppose I could argue that, if you see a conga line, hanging back with a bit of alt will reap some kills on the enemy that swoops in to kill the line?

I suppose I could argue that people are ignoring your directions to break off because they are having fun doing what they are doing, or at the very least believe they are and are content to exist in the false reality of their happiness?

I suppose I could argue the people furball in the middle of the arena because that is exactly what they logged on to do?

I suppose I could argue that people that want to be bossed around could find a common channel and beg people to order them around, thereby clearing the country channel of useless screaming and moronic and sarcastic jibes about the countrymen's intelligence?

Lol, after watching your conga line play follow the leader for what seemed like forever, I figured you needed some help as that lone Niki you guys were trying to gangbang was giving you all you could handle. Was the Niki driver just that good? Either way, didn't you notice who chased him down there in the first place? Secondly, he was undamaged, he was dangerous, and you were not making any headway. So, I came down and killed him. You don't like it? Too bad. Do a better job next time. Oh, and by the way, there's nothing easy about an 80 degree deflection shot made on a maneuvering con while diving at 500 mph. You whine because it was successful, but 95% of the time, it isn't successful. Amazingly, you fail to mention that I circled above you waiting for someone to finally get the Niki. You gents had plenty of time to accomplish it, you didn't. Therefore, I did. Get over it. Geez, the idea is to kill the enemy. Who cares how or when unless it was a stolen kill. From above, it appeared that the N1K2 was as likely to get one of you as you were to get him. That's not a stolen kill. You should be thanking me, I may have saved your life.

Let me summarize my squeak. First, I have no problem with guys who prefer to furball on the big Island. Have at it. You are keeping many of the enemy occupied. That's a benefit. What bothers me is that when people decide to participate in a field capture, they should make some effort cooperate with teammates. And, don't run way from a fight. leaving your teammates in a lurch.

My mistake was depending upon players of whom I had no knowledge or experience with to determine if they are newbies. Hence, when they disappeared, I should not have been surprised. When I was a newbie, I'd haul bellybutton too when things looked like too much to handle. I can't fault them for that. So, I accept responsibility for unreasonable expectations, given what I knew at the time. It's easy to forget that not everyone has the experience and confidence (or recklessness as is sometimes my problem) to dive into a big fight at an immediate disadvantage. I was annoyed because they scattered, but did not take the time to consider why they did. It's reasonable to believe that they weren't afraid, as much as they had no idea of what to do. Therefore, I apologize for name-calling or insinuating that they were simply too scared. Bad form on my part.
