nono, you have it backwards. I fly away, and don't fully EXPECT to get the kill. But some other guy swoops down, and blows a wing off of this plane. When it crashes, and he doesn't get the kill (because, although he took a wing off, my .50s did more aggragate damage). When he sees  "L33TD33b shot down" followed by "Victory 1 By Sikboy of the Shillelagh Squadron" He puts 2 and 2 together and deceides that I swooped down and shot the wingless plane as it was falling. There was no Kill Stealing at all in this scenario, just the appearence of kill stealing.

[edit] But yes, that's the theory behind kill stealing. Add more lead to the target than the guy who took off a limb did.

>>To be honest, yes. As I said above. Out of every 3 times i shoot off a planes tail, my kill we be stolen AT LEAST once. Get's kinda annyoying after a while<<

Ahhh the game is full of all types.
I thought this thread was gonna be about the lack of check 6 calls. But I see it's about way too many as a means of revenge; I like it :D

Hehe. reminds me of a night I was up in the MA and was flying around an island by myself. I saw some low level dots and didnt know if they were nme or not. I flew over there and saw several nme and several countrymen. I helped out on one of the nmez and got a thank you. I shot down an nme fiter and got a wtg. Then one of the guys in the group called out over voice channel: 'okay, there he goes, this one's mine guys". I said to myself: "Oh is it? And wondered who this guy was who gets to claim his prey? and in the MA at that?
Point is, it just isn't so. Pilits will dive down outta the virtual heavens even if he sees you workin over an nme with superior skill, just to take the kill. It makes me angry, especially when I worked the guy into a helpless state. Then there are the sloppy seconds dweebs who, if they didnt take their chance and shoot at a carcass, they might end their time online with nothing to show for it. A shameless act of desperation to be sure :)
I recommend just pick a different part of the arena to fight in; if not, the type will remain and do it again.

hehehe...WTG Wotan...was a toung in cheek reply to your post and you took it that way :D

In the past few months, after having many, many kills stolen I've changed my style a bit. When I see a vital part fall off my target instead of pulling up and searching for the next target I shoot and shoot and shoot untill he pops, even then I've had someone pull infront of me and force me to kill myself...what can ya do though? Way I look at it is it's just a game and lots of people in it are horses tulips :D There are too many things IRL that deserve my anger so much more

I give Lance the award for making me laugh hard right out loud though!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Don't be surprised if the people you are going in to meet the enemy with turn and leave once you engage

Once you are dead, they won't be stealing your kills.

Sikboy - I see what you are saying, and never realized until now what you had said.  I'm new and have 3 or 4 kills.  I was able to pump some rounds into the nose of the P-51 and it was smoking.   I was the last plane on the "prong" of attack (farthest forward) and had to break for fuel reasons.  I had pretty much forgotten about this until yesterday.  It went into a spin, and (I have to give credit to this guy/gal), they pulled it out of a spin.

Now, if I am reading you right, you are basically saying that if say...you were to pump some lead into it and it goes down, it is still my kill?  I'm serious about this, I hope I am understanding what are saying.  Let me know.

I wonder if Joe realizes that I will now endeavor to steal every single kill he "earns" right after I make sure to squelch him.  I would not have done so before his moronic tirade.

The payback for the effort expended is even better than shooting chutes.  Impossible to pass up.

How are you gonna steal his kills if you are flying for a different country? Perhaps we will see a new "ace" killshoot himself to death against every one of Joes victories in the future? In some futile attempt to steal the kills from a pilot in another country.

Uhhh... well, let's see... I could just change countries so that I'm not flying for a different one.

Ask a stupid question...
