Westy, you may be right about the range advantage of the 50 cal. but I would suspect it's marginal at best.  I'd guess if it were true you'd find a whole lot more "HO Dweebs" flying around in P-38s!

Leph - that's a pretty good tactic.  I might have to give that a try.

Whatever you do though, don't even think about engaging in a HO with an inline engine (i.e. Spit, Mustang, 109 ,etc.)  You're just begging for a hit in the radiator or engine and then you're toast.  Don't know how many times I've lost my engine and had to deadstick it back home before I learned THAT lesson.

Head right for that SOB and then go nose low. After I go under him I pull straight up and let the guy think he can pull up behind me. Just as he reachs the top of his vertical I let my wingman pump him with his 6x .50.

If I'm in a Jug I will Ho a Chog but start my shot at about 1k stop at about 600 go into my nose down move. If I get lucky my first spurt knocks something off, if not I can still go under him and make him miss, do a nose down turn to build up speed and hope he doesn't go high. Or I just extend to friendlier territory depending on whats going on.

LLB OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto. I rarely ever get pinged that way and many times it puts me in a good position after the merge because he committed to an HO.

Set full power to forward sheilds and fire all phasers and photon torpedoes. Then yell at Scotty for more power.

If that is a 1C or Spit accepting an HO is tantamount to handing the guy an easy kill. You need to begin a barrel roll motion, being sure to force him nose down if he wants a shot.

After the merge you should quickly look back. If he goes for the hard pull you are probably in good shape, because that is an E-waster. You can take the E you have and pull a low-G climb over his head. This will most likely place you in the catbird's seat in a couple turns. If the fella decides instead to go for a low-G climb you may want to decide quickly if his kite can outturn yours, and either stay or leave based on that assessment.

Fire a long stream at d1.1 then bank to one side (making my plane smaller target and changing alt and direction).. if I hit with my long range shot the con sometimes dies or panicks, if he continues it means he will be so fast that I will turn into it after he HO's

Only works if you are slow though =P

Faced with a HO...  Good question.

Inquire politely about hourly and daily rates?  Ask for guild watermelon and local license?  Call my homies and hope da pimp don't show before we're done?

Actually, I try to make a lead turn crossing from side to side under the HO aircraft's nose, forcing them to bunt and roll if they want to take the shot.  If I can't do that (vert HO or too slow on the deck), I put the pipper on, trim for stable nose track, and open fire starting at 1200 yards.  Slightly BEFORE the "last second", I cross-control to try to skid out of the way to avoid the collision while still shooting, on the theory that if he explodes before I get there, I can't hit him
