That has been exactly what has been transpiring on Ch 1 of late. I will take a screenshot next time. Last night it just went on and on. I usually ignore the rants on Ch 1 but some of the statements I've seen going across lately is too much and out of line in my opinion.

Wotan, Grun- if you filter the noise out I believe the real point of this thread is the above.

Besides some cases of chute shooting, I have heard that fighter pilots were quite civil to one another. Just what I have heard though.

I have a great way of avoiding that crap on channel 1, I dont squelch, I just take my plane elsewhere.

Euro theatre was like that in AW, and all of them are now in the MA.

IMHO i think that kind of disrespect is indicative of a gutless wonderwuss that hides behind a screen cause he cant possibly have the brains to justify his beliefs to his pet toejamzu. If I am stuck somewhere with other people I have to deal with, I dont start yelling that kind of crap. I think people should have the decency not to do so in this game. If they cant control themselves it only makes them seem more childish.

of course we all need to admit that most of the pilots in this game tend to hide the old bottle under the parachute.....

What you stated above was not his point, however you did seize upon that though.
He makes a good point though; and wouldn't it be better to leave religion, politics and your sexual flavor and race preferences outta the arena and off the Channels?
I read a similar vein of conversation over CH1 last week end, and was offended by it. One of the guys doing it was apparently very comfy while spouting off, and was joined by several others, each more ignorant than the first; again as if it was alright with everyone else who could see CH.1 text rolling over the screen.
This just isn't right and totally unfair to everyone else. Hell, I'd rather see that kind of text banned or chastised instead of getting a system warning cuz I say 'damn'. That isn't going to happen so why not everyone steer clear of the standard taboo topics eg. religion, race, politics, etc etc.
Otherwise, it will get really ugly and that is no fun at all.

none of these threads are started by me, if someone makes a statement about such and such and you dont like it or if anyone doesnt then we have a squelch and ignore feature.

But my point in what i was saying is, who is akak, or anyone to throw out generalizations of whats racist when he provides no proof or even quotes that which he calls racist so we can decide on our own. He made a statement that hes tired of racist remarks on 1. Then who was it and what did they say? Thats what you would expect to see.

The fact you or anyone doesn't care for any political issues being discussed in game is different then trying to stop a discussion with the "race card".

I squelch 1 and a bunch of folks. I dont make whiney posts about what other folks chose to talk about. If I dont like whats in a thread I dont read it.

However racial and ethnic religious name calling is different in expressing a political views (well in most cases). And htc should come down on it.

But I doudt you or htc could stop "political" discussions whether they be on channel 1 or else where. Thats different from cracking down on folks who use racial slurs.

My post is only addressing akak not any of the other stuff you all are mixing into it. I dont discuss politics any where except in threads where they are brought up like this one. Theres alot more that goes on over channel 1 thats far outragous then politics.

The person startin all this stuff in the MA is doing so for kicks. I doubt he believes any of what he says. Once he gets a few bites he just keeps stirring the pot until the players keep the crap going. Hell he does a fine job of it.
To him its a game that he is playin, i think its time someone stepped in and dealt with him.

We all know who he is, it seems hard to believe noone from HTC has seen this happen and who started it... It goes on for hours every night lately.

Remove that one person and the problem is solved. He can't claim there is no proof, when anyone tuned to channel 1 around 10pm est any night is a witness...

I have allways had a hard time figuring out just what constitued 'racist" so far as words are concerned.

Could someone please publish a list of current taboo words and update it on a daily basis for me? It would need to be someone who fancies himself brighter than the rest of us and with internet "publishing" ability... Being a pompous blowhard would of course be a big help.... widemouth seems a natural for the job but I don't like to volunteer anyone.

My feelings on channel 1 are along the lines of AKAK and some others, and would prefer to have the channel much more "sterile" than it currently is. I don't feel that anyone should be forced to squelch this channel because they don't like the content. Channel 1 is a tool for us to use, not abuse.

Everyone has a right to free speech, and can say anything they would like, but they cannot indiscriminately broadcast their views over every media available to them, especially if some of their views could be interpreted as offensive. I think that the comments by AKAK and others are a simple attempt to reduce the amount of offensive comments on Channel 1. There doesn't need to be a trial over specific comments as Wotan suggests, using records or transcripts as evidence or proof just to be able to make a suggestion that we should watch what we say on an open channel. That is insane! We all know that Hitech can punish any one specific individual by providing such evidence, but the intent here is to remind everyone to take more care in what they say. Don't get upset at the people who are blowing the whistle. And keep the airwaves friendly and clear!!!

Have seen a lot of gay bashing on Ch1, a fair amount of ethnic and racist slurs too. It doesn't really bother me personally as I am a straight white Christian male. But I'm sure there are a lot of people who find this stuff personally offensive. It's a game, and it should be fun. If you are bringing stuff into the game that is offensive and therefore not fun, then please go away.

There are very young people playing this game. Very impressionable young people. Impressionable young people who probably have concerned parents giving htc cash.... I would hate to see a parent who was just happy the kid wasnt playing some first person shooter with blood and guts everywhere, only to find racial slurs and very ignorant/offensive comments with no relation to the game sitting flashing across there 10 year olds computer screen.

OK, Information doesn't hurt anyone, and even the most bigoted, racist love muffin has information to give and we can all learn from... wait, channel one wasn't designed or intended for the use of conveying information outside of game aspects...

OK, You can squelch channel one if you don't have the 'nads to hang with the big dawgs... oh wait, creating or allowing a hostile environment is not conducive to attracting/keeping a large playerbase, which pays the bills..

no because its so subjective in the current pc world as to be meaningless unless he provides some sort of quote or context where we can judge for our selves.

Barring that had he been so offended with what was said then it would have been better to go to htc not the board.

A few years ago a guy was fired (local govern work dont remember where) for using the word "niggardly". You can look it up. He was labelled a bigoted racist.

We would all agree that specific instances of racial naming calling should not be allowed. But in todays climate people throw the words "racist" "bigot" and even "nazi" around rather easily.

Theres no "free speech" in AH or on this board. Pyro has said that channel 1 aint the place for politics. So thats it. But in an open discussion about "things" then everyone will have an opinion. Its up to you to decide which of these opinions you will listen to and which to squelch. None of you all are helpless. Dot squelch works. And if you find it so offensive document it and let ht deal with it.

But assuming that "everyone" agrees" with such generalizations is wrong.
