SpitXIV and 262 though, its like a contest to see who can down it the fastest lol...
I suggest you get some time in either type in the TA before venturing into the MA. I've flown the SpitXIV, and a La-7 came a'runnin. He died. Then a Mustang tried his luck, he died too. Finally, I collided with a SpitfireIX after shooting his elevators off. That was my fault, and cost me just over 58 perks. The fact that I was able to handle the Lavochkin and Mustang without great difficulty is exactly why these birds are perked. Yet, one stupid mistake and all those perkies go down the drain.
One must expect that everyone will be out to kill your perk plane. So, you had better be up to the challenge, or resign yourself to losing the perks. Fly it smart, don't take the same risks you might in a non-perk fighter, and you'll land most of your sorties. However, be advised, these aircraft accumulate perks at about .5 per kill (or less), meaning that a SpitXIV will need an astounding, certainly impossible, K/D to break even, should just one fighter be lost. If you fly perk planes often, you can depend on losing more perks than you will ever gain.
I suggest that you fly someting like the Ki-61 or 202/205, in which you can generate 20-30 perk sorties. That'll allow you to fly the perk birds more often, and not be concerned about the lost perks, that will undoubtably result from just a single loss.
