Every year I rent "The Longest Day" if it is not being shown on the networks.  It is a self-imposed tradition and my little way of saying thank you to all those who fell.

Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

It's hard to imagine that many people so willingly laying down thier lives for freedom today.  Thank God that they did that day :(

Thank you and  Let's hope that kind of sacrifice is never needed again!

Let's not get carried away.  Less than 3000 were killed on D-Day.

Amazing, amazing men.

From a quick search:

Quote
By evening on D-Day, the Allies had managed to land 130,000 men on the beaches, plus another 22,000 dropped by air. The entire assult force had suffered 8,600 casualties. No exact figures are possible, either for the number of men landed or for casualties, for D-Day alone. These figures are estimated as close as possible.

Don't confuse total casualties with total deaths.

A general rule of thumb is 4 WIA for every 1 KIA.

None of the casualties would have been needed had a certain prettythanghole not been brought to power in Germany.

I refuse to honor the thoughts and policies of nazi's. I certainly won't claim any relation or alliegence with them, even in a game.

to all Allied vets, fallen and living. They were ALL casualties of this conflict. None left unscathed whether they suffered a combat wound or not. Thank  you for your sacrifice.
